Both fighters are coming off victories inside the Octagon, Kampmann defeated Rick Story via Unanimous Decision, while Thiago Alves TKO'd the UFC newcomer Papy Abedi at UFC 138. Kampmann and Alves have an identical finishing ratio; both with 13 finishes out of 18 (19 for Alves) career victories.
Kampmann
"He's got good combinations, he's real good standing. I think he's definitely technical as well and it's going to make for a great fight. I'm going to try to pick him apart, I'm going to stay away from those bombs. Sometimes I have a habit to start slugging out a little bit but not in this fight, I'm going to pick him apart."
Alves
"I think he's going to test his striking skills at first and everything but definitely, as soon as he gets hit, he's going to shoot for a takedown. I've found the old 'Pitbull' that was sleeping inside of me. But now he's out there, he's hungry and he can't wait to perform in Sydney."

When a fighter starts talking about finding/rediscovering their old/inner self, it's usually not a good sign.
So true, yet only 1 "sharp". Kind of sad...
