UFC officially cancel the trip to Abu Dhabi for UFC 129; New Jersey lined-up as a possible replacement
Posted on December 16, 2010, 08:44 AM by Anton GurevichMMAFighting.com reports that the Ultimate Fighting Championship have officially cancelled the UFC 129 trip to Abu Dhabi next March.
The event was expected to be headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight Title bout between Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Rashad Evans, but instead, it's expected now to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
UFC's last trip to Abu Dhabi was highlighted by Anderson Silva's controversial performance in the UFC Middleweight Title fight against Demian Maia, what Dana White labeled as "one of the worst moments as a president of the promotion. According to the report, UFC will still look to book an event in Abu Dhabi this year, probably in Autumn or Winter.

Lol they just didn't want the crowd to get bored by Rashad's newly found wrestling-dominating style
Newly found?
wat.
uhh yeah... just recently he's been keeping the amount of strikes low and takedowns high... for a little while before then he was standing most of the time
ireland? IRELAND?!?!?!
lol that not a new rashad strategy, that is how he started. He was initially a wrestler, then started striking alot more when he got a lot of criticism from fans, etc. Then found striking till he got KTFO by Machida now he's back to safe wrestling. Its rele just a cycle
He just can't bang with real strikers, so he has to wrestle.
@Warcrazed
Took the words right out of my mouth.
White & UFC really need to make it up to the fans of Abu Dhabi what happened the last time they were there.
This card for sure should be Tito's last fight.
I agree with that last part, unless he somehow pulls off an upset. Tito can go to the WWE for all I care. It's disrespectful to other fighters to keep him in the UFC and pay him ten times as more than much better fighters who actually win. The guy has a 4 losses and a draw in his last 5 fights.
no diss, but it's way less exotic.
You're telling me, but seeing Shogun fight in my hometown isn't bad at all.
Maybe they can move it to Afghanistan. Abu Dhabi, who cares? Anyone planning on flying out there for the event? I didn't think so.
Oh but im sure Anderson Siliva will be at the UFC event in Brazil huh...maybe he'll make a joke out of that too
perfect oppurtunity to return to ireland for a st.paddys day card
Good call mate
I dont know if is just me but i dont think Evens has the Cardio to go 5 round in abu hdabi
how does tito get nog after his last fights..
either nog felt it was an easy w or he's becoming desperate for opponents
but the most annoying part is even when nog rapes him he'll get half the winnings of tito
