UFC give out three $50,000 Knockout of the Night Awards
Posted on March 22, 2010, 06:32 AM by Anton GurevichUltimate Fighting Championship decided to give no less than three $50,000 Knockout of the Night awards for the UFC LIVE on Versus: Vera vs Jones event at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
Main Event winner Jon Jones convincingly defeated Brandon "The Truth" Vera, solidifying his place among the UFC Light Heavyweight elite. Co-main eventer Junior "Cigano" Dos Santos knocked out the veteran Gabriel "Napao" Gonzaga to the entertainment of the local fans, as John Howard viciously knocked out Daniel Roberts in the First Round of the fight.
Meanwhile, fan-favorite Clay "The Carpenter" Guida was the only fighter to win via submission at the event, and eventually the only fighter to receive the Submission of the Night award. Guida defeated Shannon Gugerty via the perfectly executed Arm Triangle Choke at 3:40 minutes of the Second Round.
None of the fighters received the Fight of the Night award this evening.

I didn't think anybody can just do that to Gonzaga...but man, Dos Santos gots some heavy hands.
How did you not think that could happen to gonzaga. Check out his record all his loses are KO or TKO.
I just meant what it was...somebody had to win, but I didn't think it was going to be a KTFO kind of a fight. Good job by Dos Santos - that is all.

what congo has shown us here is that there is no aspect of mma game that he is really good at and we all know that he is not well rounded so he can never be top 10 in his life!
idk, dos santos and jones ko was good but howards flying punch ko was better so, idk y they gave out 3 ko of the nights
If the UFC want to dish out extra money to their fighters i say let them we here all the time how tuff it is for the non elite fighters financial situiations. As long as their is more money going to the fighter i dont really care about the reason, and yes Howard def had the best KO of the night.

I just didnt see the air if excitement last night, maybe it was just me.
Look at Junior Dos Santos' Stand up on that last fight and look at Anderson Silva's stand up, it is almost the same now. He seems to be getting bigger too every fight. If he continues the progress, JDS is going to be (if not already) a big threat on any top HW contender.
The guy is training with elites, Nog bros, Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida. he is in a good hands.
