UFC Twitter bonus winners announced: Brazil does very well

In May the UFC held their “Fighter Summit” in Las Vegas, NV. One of the more interesting revelations to come out of the gathering was that the promotion, beginning on June 1, would offer bonuses for twitter usage. The concept, while not surprising coming from an organization that understands the use of social media, it is counter to how most other professional sports leagues deal with twitter.
Beginning on June 1, the UFC announced that they would look at fighter’s current twitter followers. They would then, at the end of each quarter, award $5,000 bonuses to each fighter that topped the following categories:
Most Followers
Highest Percentage of Growth in Followers
Most Creative
The UFC announced the first set of winners, and the promotion’s Brazilian Fighters did pretty well:
