Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion "Suga" Rashad Evans secured his shot against the winner of UFC 135 Jones vs. Rampage bout after a convincing performance against Tito Ortiz in the main event of UFC 133.

Rashad Evans was better than Tito in every aspect of MMA, from wrestling to striking. Evans controlled the pace, and managed to land good strikes that put Tito Ortiz one step behind. However, Ortiz showed a lot of heart, and responded with striking combinations, as well as submission attempts off his back.

Turning point came in Round 2, when Rashad Evans got himself into a dominant position at the fence. Evans landed hard punches from the top, with Tito Ortiz locked in a crucifix. Ortiz managed to find the way out of the crucifix, but just when he was getting up Rashad Evans landed a vicious knee to the body. The knee immediately crippled Tito Ortiz, as the referee rushed in to stop the action, and declare Rashad Evans as a winner via TKO at 4:48 minutes into Round 1.

Rashad Evans improved his MMA record to 18-1-1, finally "avenging" the draw against Tito Ortiz back at UFC 73. Suga will not wait for UFC 135, where he will know the identity of the reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, and perhaps his opponent at UFC's New Year's Eve event.

your kidding right ? hes not been in the Top 10 since 2006!

Rashad is just on another level , i knew he would beat Tito with no trouble , and even picture the TKO in the 2nd round he really didn't sweat on the fight at all.

Light Heavyweight is one of the best divisions because of its talent

Tito just doesnt fit there anymore him beating Bader just prove that Bader is not that good.

Cavalcante , Mousasi , Henderson , Davis are by far better than Ortiz

i just hope the Tito train hype is over.

Before everyone gets ready to throw Bader to the wayside, I just want to say that the guy is still a good fighter. He got clipped and got flashed ko'ed just long enough for Tito to lock in the choke. Props to Tito.

With that said, it happens. Maybe he wasn't quite ready to take the next step from prospect to contender, but he has looked good in the past.

I think Bader has been over hyped and rated. I personally didn't think he beat Nog - another dodgy decision - in which case makes it 0 / 3 for bader in his last 3 fights but he's lucky the judging is BS.

BTW anyone see the Pace / Menjivar fight? That was another BS decision as Pace clearly won the first and last rounds but unanimous decision for Menjivar.

I disagree on both counts... Just goes to show the differing outlooks on judging criteria within the sport :/

Tito is 6 ' 3. Rashad is 5'10; small for a LHW. Anyway he got the job done, props to Rashad.

I agree with Angeles...I'll also add that Rich Franklin should NOT be in the 205 top 10 list either. He hasn't quite proven himself at 205 and I actually think Tito can beat him.

I picked Tito to get the W. But I thought 'Shad's speed would be the main factor in this fight.... anyway I'm glad to see Jones vs. Evans; Although I think Jones will destruct Evans.... Not hatin'

Stocked on Rashad's win and even more on his peformance. God damn has he changed his style! I'm not hating but I don't know if this change is actually for the good as I feel he would've still beat Tito with his old style, at the moment I'll say its for the better.

I have never been a big Tito fan but he gained a dose of respect from me stepping up to take this fight, showing great heart and above everything else admitting that Rashad won fair and square against an 100% Tito Ortz - mad props.

As much of a Rashad fan as I am, I don't know if this has changed my mind on him getting beat by Jones. I think Rashad may be slightly faster but I don't know if that is enough to defeat him.

Pretty sure that Rashads record is 21-1-1 not 18 wins
