UFC Results: Nam Phan and Leonard Garcia go toe-to-toe in UFC 136 Fight of the NightPosted on October 8, 2011, 09:20 PM by Anton Gurevich
Phan was much better during the first two rounds, wearing out Garcia with excellent striking game. Phan's body shots and short-range punches were the key, as Leonard Garcia looked completely out of gas.
But it was just the beginning as Leonard Garcia gave everything he has in Round 3, in what was without any doubt was one of the greatest rounds ever inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship Octagon. Garcia somehow mimicked Nam Phan's style to get back into the fight in full force. All of a sudden, it was Nam Phan backpedalling and looking for a way to regain composure in the fight. Garcia and Nam Phan continued to swing until the very last second of the fight that fully deserved to be the first non-title five-rounded in the UFC.
In the end, all three judges awarded Nam Phan a sweet revenge in form of a 29-28 Unanimous Decision victory. Phan celebrated like he just won the UFC Featherweight title, going 17-9 in his Mixed Martial Arts career.
