The UFC Flyweight Tournament will kick-off tonight with it's semifinal round of action from the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia. Serving as the UFC on FX 2 co-main event, perennial Bantamweight contender Joseph Benavidez takes on former Shooto champ Yasuhiro Urushitani, while former 135-pound title challenger Demetrious Johnson welcomes promotional newcomer and top ranked 125'er Ian McCall.

The winners of tonight's match-ups will advance to a final showdown, which will later crown the first ever UFC Flyweight Champion. Below viewers are taken from Sacramento to Irvine to Kirkland, Washington, as they are introduced the fighters competing for the promotion's 8th, and likely final, championship belt.

I thought the 145 and 135 guys were high energy but this weightclass looks like its going to produce some crazy fights... great to see talented guys able to compete at their natural weight.

Fast pace, technique, endless energy... I cannot wait for this to get kicked off.

I just hope there are enough guys to pad out the division once the tournament is done or we'll start seeing rematches, rubber matches and spiderweb matches.

is it called flyweight , cuz, they are like flies...buzzing around so damn fast, you cant catch them, any time they tag you its just an annoyance, and if you do manage to make contact, they are demolished in 1 hit...

j/k ...tonights fights were very entertaining. i think joseph will take it all the way .
