I think that's how the French Creole pronounce it

It's how any French-speaking person in the world would say it. The 'ill' in French makes the same y sound as 'll' does in Spanish

I'll watch the event, and I support our troops. These events dont help Dana's vision of UFC in Afghanistan though and the middle east.

He cant be a pimp and a prostitute too.

The idea of mixing MMA and war fighting is kinda lame imo. Let the government support the troops for a change.

    @ Lowkick

Agreed. This is just a recruiting tool and propaganda.

People watch The UFC and MMA (in general) to watch fights and that's the only reason; I know it's the only reason I watch. Yet, every time I watch The UFC or turn on The Fight Network, I am now "constantly" hit with commercials and TV shows about how great the military is. That is not how I view them / it. Most in the military have no idea as to the how and why we have ended up in the wars we have ended up in; the corporate owned and profit reasons.

I agree Low, let the government support them with the tax dollars they steal from us. And for those that think this political and that this has no place on an MMA blog - I agree. However, I and LowKickdodger have not and did not raise the issue, Danna White did. As he does every time he puts on a "support" the troops show. He assumes everyone loves them and supports what they do, when obviously not all do; certainly not outside The United States.

And when you see how the injured, wounded, the dead and their families are treated by the government when they back back home, you begin to realize what a joke and a cliche the word "support" is.

Support the troops? ....bring them home. That's how I'd support them.

I believe this is a first. Dare I call you friend?

I suppose what I find interesting, as much as anything, is that a lot of people seem to feel this way.

If you're outside of the U.S. then I guess its not your tax dollars being "stolen."

What the UFC does with their money is not for you to decide. By all means, stop watching their fights if that is how you feel. Obviously by supporting the UFC, you are supporting the troops and god forbid you do that. Go ahead, make a stand. No more UFC for you!! If not, then shut up already.

I support the troops 100% and I am glad the UFC is having this event in their honor. Supporting the troops does not equal supporting the politicians who put them in harm's way.

Unfortunately it does. Supporting the troops...blindly...equates to supporting the politicians and the policies.

    Bull!!

You say supporting the troops...blindly--as if there were some other non-blind way to support them? According to you, supporting the troops is always a political statement and never a valid patriotic statement of appreciation for their sacrifice.

I don't buy that cynical and deeply dishonest attitude. Even when voters disagreed with the war in Iraq, they still supported their troops, and had no problem seeing the difference between politicians who make the war, and troops who are duty bound to fight where the democartically elected politicians say they should fight.

War - is the final act of foreign policy or did you not realize that. When a man takes another man's life, he should damn well know why he is doing it.

Weapons of Mass Destruction? Mobile Weapons Labs? Mushroom clouds? Imminent threats? Lies, lies, lies. Fighting the Taliban? What did the Taliban do to America? Sweet #### all; that's what.

Valid Patriotic statement? Appreciation of sacrifice? They volunteered to go and for nothing more than the promise of a paycheck, job, possible education and career. There is no troop in either theater that is defending me, my rights, my freedoms or advancing the cause of liberty, justice or "democracy". If you think that than you are even thicker than you come across. What is being delivered to Afghanistan and Iraq, is corporate Fascism; plain and simple. Those troops are there to deliver to the corporations and banks of America and its allies, all the wealth that they can steal from these countries and they are getting ready to spread the same lies, again, about Iran and start the whole thing up again. War is profitable or do you not get that? It is the most profitable business in the world.

Quoting Marine Corps General Smedley Butler, the highest decorate Marine of all time and the only person to win the Congressional Medal of Honor - Twice...War is a Racket. It is the only business where we count the profits in dollars and the losses in bodies.

People seeing the difference between the troops and politicians - really? What politicians, for example, have been held accountable for the lies that led to the invasion of Iraq?

As to "democratically" elected - LOL!!!!! Are you so naive as to really believe that? My god Son, go do some reading on The Bilderberg Group, The Bohemian Grove, The Council of Foreign Relations, The Federal Reserve, Norman Dodd...and on and on and on. What do you watch man, CNN? LOL! Code...don't be the last guy and only guy left, who still watches that crap network; the news you can "trust" - LOL!!! Right.

As to my attitude - it is neither cynical nor dishonest. What you take as such, is actually the exact opposite - honesty. And the reason you find it so offensive is, because you know (deep down) that what I say is true and it's upsetting on a cognitive level. It's called cognitive dissonance.

Concluding - you should take your patriotic self on over to Google and word search - The Amero. See what our patriotic leaders are up to. And then ask yourself, are you prepared and ready to become a patriotic "North" American? Will you observantly support North American Union Troops, as fervently as you support "American" troops.

If not, then you should take (at least) some comfort in the fact that they'll be the same guys in uniform...it'll just be a new uniform, with a new flag and a new "allegiance".

    Respectfully,

    Wing Chun

You sir are an ass. The money goes to the Hero Fund- do some fricking research before you open your mouth and make a fool out of yourself. Do you even know what the Hero Fund is? Who it helps? The money raised does not "blindly" support politicians and policies- they're gonna be around regardless- that support (money) goes to soldiers and their families who are suffering and in need. You sound like a politician yourself; who else but a politician would twist this into a political argument to discourage people from contributing to something as positive as the Hero Fund.

    Pathetic.

    @ Mere

You are both ignorant and apathetic. You are one of those faux patriots; flags everywhere, bumper-stickers all over your car; making sure you demonstrate to everyone how much you love America - lol.

Your lack of analytical understanding is breath taking. Trillions and trillions of dollars spent on these two wars, but they have to turn to the public to raise money for those that volunteered to go and invade and occupy two sovereign nations; all on lies.

Yeah - that's pretty honorable. That demonstrates the "real" support for the troops; trillions to murder and maim, but when little Johnny Apple Pie gets his legs blown off, he becomes reliant upon the generosity of the public; not the military and government that sent him there.

As to me sounding like a politician - I would dare any politician to say publicly that which I've stated, here. On the other hand, you sound like a broken record and worn out cliche. Everything that comes out of your mouth is government crap.

Tell me - why don't we have similar events to raise money for the hundreds of thousand of innocent civilians that the troops have murdered in Afghanistan & Iraq, over the last ten years? What about their mangled bodies, minds and families? Oh, let me guess...it's all a joke to you and you don't care.

Tell me smart guy - why are we fighting the Taliban? Did they attack America? No. Are they part of the official "story" of 911? No. Yet, they we are, ten years on and we're still there and murdering and fighting a bunch of guys who did nothing to us; their only crime is being the indigenous people of a land that we wish to occupy, so that we may steal all of their resources, protect the opium crop and build a pipeline that the Taliban wouldn't allow.

Concluding - the government could and should pay for all the medical attention that the troops need. That is the government's responsibility.

They have the money. And if you "support" the troops so much, why are you not over there? Or is that just bullshit and empty rhetoric, from you? Other than spouting the cliche, what "exactly" do you do or have you done, to "support" the troops?

That is pathetic. You are pathetic.

    Cheers,

    Wing Chun

You sound like an ignorant teenager or college freshman. Put the bong down for a second and re-read my post.

Politics, the war, the policies, your arguments about same- all have

NOTHING to do with the Hero Fund in my opinion. It's about helping

critically injured soldiers and their families, nothing more. That's

why it's a GOOD thing, that's why your political spin on the fund is

    so disgusting.

You can argue till your blue in the face and wring your hands for

hours but you won't make it so. I bet you watched the fight. I bet

somewhere, deep down inside, you agree with me after seeing those

stories. If not, I'm wasting my time with you.

    You're a sad little man.
