UFC 140 delivered a wild night of fights tonight from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with only three of the 12 scheduled bouts going the distance.  UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones overcame the first real adversity in his career, stopping Lyoto Machida in the second round via submission. Frank Mir proved that his first win over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was not a fluke, submitting his with a vicious kimura. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira fared much better than his brother, stopping Tito Ortiz via TKO in the first round. Brian Ebersole continued his winning ways, earning a split decision victory over Claude Patrick and to open the main card, Chan Sung Jung earned a TKO over Mark Hominick in a mere seven seconds.

I don't get it. Yes he's "officially" tied for the quickest (t)ko. Although he should have the quickest (T)KO in the UFC, because it was not a KO.

On one hand, I feel badly for Mark Hominick, I know he just got caught due to carelessness and that he is a better fighter than that.

On the other hand, Hominick was the home town hero, with a human interest story played up by the media, who entered the octagon with emotion--which was squelched by the 4 ounce glove of reality.

I am sorry, but I had to laugh. Not at Hominick, but at how fate ignores the build up and hype of the media story machine. I got the same laugh when Dos Santos KO'd Cain in 64 seconds after all the media blather.

they touched gloves and Hominick swung ...and missed lol .....karma i think ....if he had connected then this discussion would have been about a sucker punch, bad sportsmanship and such.

He even tried to pretend he was ok ...come on fella.

I think at bare minimum your goal in the octagon should be "dont get knocked out in the first ten seconds of the fight." I mean, do a dance or scoot around on your butt for the first ten seconds. It worked for Jones.

Very Eloquent, I like Jones so look elsewhere if you want to hate a hater. The TRUTH is, he scooted around on his F$#@ing butt so he didnt get knocked out in the first ten F@#$ing seconds!

No I think he was trying to get Machida to throw a kick or knee at him as I'm fairly sure he's practiced some TD counter from that position, but he could see Machida was having none of it so stood up.

I "objectively" saw Jones scooting around and not getting knocked out in the first ten seconds.

Your are "subjectively" saying he had a plan to counter an illegal kick to get a take down.

I will call it the "Booty Scooty" Nick Diaz tested, Jon Jones Approved.

His head was clearly not in this fight. It's tough to overcome the death of a close friend let alone try to fight. Like Jake Shields dealing with the death of his Father I would cut him a little slack. Mark stepped up like a man and still fought when many others probably wouldn't have.

now lets get this str8 people, mark under estimated the korean zombie and payed the price....there is no excuse whatsoever as a professional fighter(referring to mark) to go in for the kill without testing the field....i mean...his opponent is nicknamed the korean zombie for reason.....i picked mark to win the fight, which sucks, but given the way he loss....he fkn deserved every bit of it...hometown fans dont give u extra super strength there mark...common....

Awesome card! If you like finishes, maybe one of the best ever. And it could easily be the last time we see legends Ortiz and Big Nog in the ring.

    Epic.

3 weaks shows some fans are as blind as the judges. Close fight but Patrick definately won 2 of the 3 rounds. In the clinch he was far busier than Ebersole and maintained a pace Ebersole struggled with for the majority of the fight. But at least one judge scored it right. Keep him and sack the other 2.

Give props for Jones, Machida put up one helluva fight for Jones till that elbow came in. Jones showed some composure after getting hurt and still pulled out in round 2. And the korean zombie, i def did not see that one coming. Good CARD
