UFC 135 Results: Nate Diaz finishes Takanori Gomi in Round 1
Posted on September 24, 2011, 08:34 PM by Anton GurevichNate Diaz made a bold statement for the UFC Lightweight title shot contendership, with an impressive victory over the veteran Takanori Gomi at UFC 135 main card opener.
Diaz controlled the action from the very first seconds of the fight, punishing Gomi with razor-sharp jabs. The Fireball Kid tried to respond with a wild overhand right, but got punished by Diaz each and every time. Nate Diaz continued to drop bombs on Takanori Gomi, who I have to admit showed an amazing survival skills in this fight, looked like he's simply not ready for that kind of fight inside the Octagon.
Finally, Takanori Gomi somehow got Nate Diaz on the ground, trying to execute some ground and pound from the top. However, the Cesar Gracie product had plans of his own, unleashing armbar and triangle choke attempts. Gomi tried to find a way out with a slam, but was forced to tap out after getting his arm stretched in a vicious armbar.
In the end, Nate Diaz recovers from two back-to-back losses, now looking fresh as one of the potential "in the mix" fighters in the UFC Lightweight division.

sick performance by diaz this is why you gotta love the diaz bros they always come to fight and are exciting anywhere the fight goes
That was his best performance I think, albeit against an over the hill Gomi with very wild, untechnical striking that just does not cut it much anymore.
SOTN.
Those were sick transitions.
They were amazing transitions. My friends and I were screaming for a gogo platta when he was going for a triangle!
I think Nate looks good at 155. He gets tooled around by the stronger competitors at 170. His boxing looked crisp along with his submission game off his back. I hope he keeps up the good performances. He is still a young fighter and has a lot of potential.
Hope Diaz stays at 55! At 170 he can get thrown around by guys like Rory, but at 155 this guy is exciting and a finisher.
i wanna see nick vs nate in a boxing match!!
Would like to see Nate vs Cerrone or Pettis...
winner take Henderson vs Guida?...
IDK what would happen w/ Edgar/Maynard...maybe a long lay off for them to get those fights in.
Wishful thinking...
