UFC 135 Results: Mark Hunt defeats Ben Rothwell After Three Rounds of WarPosted on September 24, 2011, 09:35 PM by Anton Gurevich
Heavyweight veterans Mark Hunt and Ben Rothwell went to war for three rounds, in what was without a doubt one of the most exciting bouts in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Rothwell opened strong with takedown attempts, managing to put Mark Hunt on his back. Big Ben rained ground and pound that cut Hunt wide open, with sights on getting the finish. Hunt responded with his trademark striking, showing Ben Rothwell who is who in this bout. Rothwell went for takedowns over and over again, but Mark Hunt started to defend most of them, quickly gaining control of the action inside the Octagon.
By the end of Round 2, Rothwell was unable to walk back to his corner. The cageside doctors checked on Rothwell, but the visibly exhausted Big Ben decided to continue. Round 3 was an all-out war between the "Zombie Mode" Ben Rothwell and "I smell blood, but can't finish this fight" Mark Hunt. Both showed a tremendous amount of heart, but in the end it was Mark Hunt who got the Unanimous Decision victory.
Mark Hunt gets his second consecutive victory in the UFC, and is now 7-7 in his MMA career. The fight against Travis Browne would be great for the UFC Heavyweight division, perhaps as the co-main event at one of the Spike/Versus fight cards.
