UFC 135: Jones vs. Jackson Press Conference from Denver, Colorado

UFC President Dana White, alongside Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, was in attendance today at Braun's Bar & Grill in Denver for a public UFC 135 Press Conference.  The stacked card is set to take place September 24th from the Pepsi Center in Colorado and will be headlined by a 205-pound title clash pitting division champ Jones against former champ Jackson.  Also scheduled at this time is a Welterweight showdown between Diego Sanchez and Matt Hughes, as well as a Heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Rob Broughton.

Below are highlights from todays Press Conference (via MMAMania.com):

Jackson: I'm only 33, you're asking like I'm Randy Couture's decrepted old ass. If ya'll put me in that category. I was younger than (Jon Jones) when I started and I fought in Pride against Wanderlei, Shogun and them. He's the youngest champion but he's also the least experienced champion in UFC history. I want my belt back, I've got tunnel vision.

Jones: I'll give you a replica belt if you want one so bad. I see the fight being a great fight. I'm not looking to knock him out, I'm just looking to finish the fight any way possible. Whether its by TKO, submission or knockout.

Jones: I think I displayed pretty good kickboxing against Shogun. Rampage is like fighting a boxer. If he thinks I won't stand with him he's got the wrong impression.

Jackson: You the future and all that, but you fought Shogun when he was rusty as hell.

Jones: There's always excuses, you didn't fight the Pride Rampage, you fought the movie star Rampage. You got any excuses prepared now?

Jackson: I won't need any.

observing rampages progression of growth over his last 3 fights, it's clear that he will be in peak form for this fight. jones calm demeanour is really worrying... i saw how he desecrated shogun in fact it looked at one point that he was playing with him he was so confident in there. rampage better start rattling jones from the get go let him taste a power punch to unsettle him, show him something he hasnt experienced before, you never know he may just crumble like lesnar does while getting hit. no one wants to fight a robot that systematically breaks you into pieces with zero expression and thats jon jones for you so rampage better 4get bout a-team and bring his a-game this is no joke i dont ever want to see him get bludgeoned like he did in pride against slva and shogun and this jones fits the profile perfectly to administer a beating of a similar calibre.

He is a snitch because he has said before that he would rat out people in high school that smoked weed and stuff. Cuz his mommy always told him to do what he thinks is right. That's why he's such a little bitch. He's an incredible fighter. But as a person. bitch

yeah Sonnen just tries to say anything people will respond to. I like the BS shit talk that comes out of his mouth, but its getting quite pathetic.

Maybe since he had his license reinstated, he will keep it directed to people in his division that stand in his way for a rematch with Silva.

This will be a good fight. jones is confident, rampage is just gangster with it. but look for jones to take this fight to the ground quickly. I recall him saying he was going to stand with vera and give the fans what they want and never did..was still happy with the finish of vera but lets be honest if he feels the power rampage has he won't even consider standing with him..

I do believe Jones is the future of the sport but, it is very hard to stop a motivated rampage. I will agree with Rampage, that jones did win against a rusty Shogun, after he was out for quite some time and had a big surgery. I dont think people remember that rampage is a natural born wrestler. I do not think he is as good as jones is when he is on his back. but i think that rampage can handle himself on the floor with Jones.

Yeah a rusty shogun got TKO round 3, a very prepared, fit shogun would have still lost but only in round 4 or 5 by TKO. Shogun was not just beat, he was outclassed.

Given the tough time Rampage had with Machida i just cant see him out-striking or taking Jones down.

But i am pulling for him to shut Jones up. Sick of that "Aw Shucks" grin and him talking about how great he is.

I dont think Jones is as elusive as Machida is. I can actually see jones being caught more because he is so big and lengthy.

Hilarious staredown, Jones was doing his usual 'stare off out the corner of eye looking pissed' thing, Rampage then leaned back on Jones, and pretended to see what Jones was staring out at looking confused

I see Rampage slamming Jones into unconciousness during a failed triangle attempt on Jones's part. Stay unpredictable and make him wonder what is coming next the same way Jones does his opponants. This will steal precious confidence from the champ and make him start to doubt what got him there in the first place. As a result,Rampage will become more the monster in the eyes of Jones; and as Bones fails at more and more TDs, Rampage will send him back to his stool between rounds a broken fighter. Take the fight out of him Quinton, then destroy him!

I hope so. It would possibly do Jones some good to be humbled. But he is a super talent at this early point in his career and he will be hard to handle, much less be dominant against.

I didn't like Rampage at first when he knocked out Chuck. But he's really grown on me and I think most everyone over the years. I hope he beats Jones simply to humble him. Jones used to act humble in ways but his head is getting way too big, for a guy that's only beaten one top guy at his own game. (Shogun at striking). everyone else either wasn't that great. or he did more of what they were not as good at. (Taking down Brandon Vera after promising us a stand up fight). Jones is good everywhere, and great at takedowns and top control. But he needs a reality check. He hasn't proven it all yet. Just like when Machida seemed unstoppable. Kinda Ironic, I think Machida may be one of the only guys that can beat him.

I just stopped liking Jones after the whole Rashad thing. Especially after Jones showed the world that Rashad called him a fake ass white boy. It's like he was telling on him. such a bitch move. If Jones had just stayed cool he wouldn't have so many people praying he loses this one. I think Rashad consistently took down Jones in practice. And that's why Jones pulled out of their fight. Maybe it was back and forth. But I'll bet Rashad got him down.

He was pointing out the Rashad is racist and worth knowing IMO. If you care to listen to Jones speak he says it is an honour to fight Rampage. He is confident and rightly so - how big would your head be if you was UFC champ at an young age? Jones is actually pretty grounded with his head screwed on.

Uhhh. no, haha. it doesn't mean Rashad is racist. he just said it to offend jones. it was all part of how he always calls him fake. It's like when Jones is in front of a camera he tries to act extra white. And pleasing to the media and the masses. Maybe acting white isn't the best way of saying it. But I think he talks a little differently. And i think when he and Rashad talk crap to eachother. That Jones talks and acts more like Rashad. Kinda like how when Rampage and Rashad were yelling, they would both get all ghetto. I don't care how Jones talks, if he cusses behind closed doors, or if he's gay. I just lowered my opinion of him after he kept acting more like an alter boy on camera. When we know that's not him. His interviews are ridiculously boring, always says the same stuff. But yes, he tattled on Rashad, trying to make him look bad. Just like he tattled on kids that smoked weed when he was in high school. and that's a fact, he said he did so cuz his mommy always said to do what was right. Well that ain't right Dammit. lol, that's just being a lil cok$moker.

I like both these fighters. Rampage is probably the funniest fighter out there and I hope he wins this fight, and as someone already mentioned he has looked extremely sharp in his recent fights so should be a decent test for Jones. My heart says Rampage, my head says Jones by a big margin.

yeah, rampage would be the guy to offer you the spliff at school and Jones would be the guy runnin to snitch on ya.....i love rampage man....the guys a stud, if he gets mauled by Jones it's gonna hurt to watch, i don't care how tough and technical you are though, if rampage lands a power shot, left or right hand, it's lights out, same for Bones. I just hope rampage has worked hard on gettin in close enough to land that killer blow. Rampage aint stupid either he knows what jones is about, he knows what he's gotta do for sure.....
