Last Saturday, the main event for UFC 134 between Anderson Silva & Yushin Okami for the UFC Middleweight title was an epic display of pure domination. Whatever gameplan Okami had prior to the fight went out the window and he didn’t stand a chance against Ando. Together with our friends at Compustrike, let’s take a closer look at the stats from UFC 134’s main event.

Anderson Silva landed 43/57 (75%) strikes the whole fight compared to Yushin Okami’s 18/50 (36%). 29 of Ando’s strikes were power shots while Okami had 3 power strikes. When training with Chael Sonnen, you’d think that Okami would try to take The Spider to the ground at will. That wasn’t the case of course; Okami only attempted one unsuccessful takedown. Silva managed to knockdown Okami twice in the second round and from there what we all expected happened. Anderson Silva got his thirteenth straight win as a champion and another middleweight bites the dust.

Is it time for Ando to move up permanently to Light Heavyweight or is it time for Georges St. Pierre to move up to middleweight if he can beat Nick Diaz?

I think Chael deserves his rematch he pulled out a win but got

his ass kicked the whole fight and unless your a complete Silva

fan you cant help but say he loss and would love to see what happens

next cause Anderson wont even talk about it and if Chael does win

will Silva break and never be the same or will he come back and be an even better champ...???

If Chael wins then for sure a rematch. If not, then GSP or LHW. There's nothing for Anderson at MW.

Why would people want to see this huge guy that could be a LHW to fight a guy that is a natural WW? what would that prove? he should who to one of the most stacked division and then we would see if he is the best ever, otherwise he will beb beating smaller guys only...

I don't see any of the stacked LHW division trying to move down to fight him...

Seriously, he's the champ! He's the man to beat! Why should he have to move anywhere? If these guys really wanna fight the Spider, come to MW. That includes GSP too. I mean how hard is it for this guy to gain 15 lbs?

Not much reason for either of them to move up in weight class since you don't get as much to be a top contender as you do to be the champ. So considering all the extra work it would take for them to move up in weight class properly....that makes it even less inviting. Probably the only way to convince them to do so is if the UFC offers them a contract that pays them MORE then they are currently making being champ in their weight division. You need incentive to do such things. Legacy probably is not enough, money talks.
