UFC 134: Randy Couture does the emotional thing and picks Griffin over Rua
Posted on August 20, 2011, 09:52 PM by Trent ReinsmithUFC 134 in Rio will feature a rematch between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Forrest Griffin. In the first bout, Rua’s UFC debut, Griffin dominated the fight before submitting Rua via rear naked choke at the 4:45 mark of Round Three,
Since that fight, Rua has gone 3-2, with one of those losses being the controversial loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 104, a loss he avenged when he knocked out Machida in their rematch at UFC 113 and captured the UFC title. Rua’s next fight would be his second loss, as he fell to Jon Jones at UFC 128, losing his title.
For his part, Griffin has also gone 3-2, defeating Quinton “Rampage” Jackson for the UFC title at UFC 86 and then losing the belt in his next fight via third round TKO to Rashad Evans. Griffin would then lose to Anderson Silva, before putting together a two-fight winning streak heading into UFC 134.
In the video below, UFC Hall of Famer offers his take on the rematch.

thank god you didnt mention Tom Atencio, i cannot stand him or the lame affliction music/girls
Automatic loss for Griffin, the Couture picks will continue to be doomed
Yeah whats up with that anyway? You'd think of all people, Randy would be able to get it right.
I actually think Forrest might take it too though. It seems to be a bad matchup for Shogun. It's anyone's fight, but we shall see.
What has Shogun really done in the UFC? He beat a fading Chuck Liddell, and just happened to have to style to beat Machida(a guy he trained with). Outside of that he LOST to Forrest the 1st time and LOST to Jon Jones badly. Why would anyone believe that this is an easy matchup for him? Again, I won't be surprised if he Forrest wins AGAIN. :-)
Yes! thank you Randy! i feel more confident now that Shogun will
be in better shape next week, not at 100% but enough to beat Forrest
Couture Curse rarely fails lol
