UFC President Dana White, alongside many of the event's biggest stars, were in attendance today at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the UFC 134 Pre-Fight Press Conference. The landmark card will be headlined by a Middleweight title clash between division Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva and challenger Yushin "Thunder" Okami, while former Light Heavyweight champs Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Forrest Griffin square off in the co-main event. Also featured will be a Heavyweight showdown between veteran contender Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and rising prospect Brendan Schaub, as well as a Lightweight bout pitting Edson Barboza against Ross Pearson.

UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami Pre-Fight Press Conference Highlights (via MMAMania.com):

Dana White: Rio is a destination world-wide. People know of Rio from all over the world. To do our first event here, in a huge international destination made a lot of sense... Every time we've gone in and put on a live event, it just explodes. We're talking to some of the guys from the government to help expand martial arts. We're gonna do some cool things here in Brazil other than just putting on fights.

Anderson Silva: Regarding the posture or the stance, up to now there has been mutual respect between Okami and myself. Whenever I am respected, I always respected. That's the way I was brought up at home. This is a contact sport.

Yushin Okami: I'm just thinking about my fight. It's a great honor to fight in Brazil.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira: I come from three surgeries from last year. I went through physical preparation and he prepared me very well to go back into training. I had an excellent camp with Junior Cigano, Anderson Silva, Rafael Feijao and my brother. I'm going to give my best on Saturday.

Brendan Schaub: My jiu-jitsu is my number one passion in the sport. Obviously Minotauro is really good at jiu-jitsu. I'm no slouch there and I think I can hold my own. If jiu-jitsu is what I need to do to win the thing, I'm capable of that and my coaches have prepared me for him.

Idk Demian Maia respected Silva and Maia ended up getting clowned on for 3 rounds. Then was subjected to watching Silva running around the cage

Silva thought he was disrespected when Maia said he would take one of his arm off.

Yeah but when Maia said that he kinda had an awkward laugh after. It wasnt remotely disrespectful. I guess fighters cant say how they want to beat Silva or else Silva gets disrespected.

Can Shab really hold his own against Nog's bjj? I'd certainly like to see that although i doubt he'll last as long as he thinks. But maybe he will with Nog having 3 surgeries and all in the past YEAR! Something in me still see's Nog sub'ing Shab midway through the fight. Or he'll get laid out by Shab's super slow punches.

Schaub would be a fool to try Big Nog on the ground. Everyone around him should be encouraging him to keep it on the feet & go for the KO.
