UFC 134 Results: Phenomenal Anderson Silva TKO's Yushin Okami in Round 2

Tonight, UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva proved, beyond any doubt, why he is the best Mixed Martial Artist on the planet. Silva made Yushin Okami look like a Z-level fighter, before finishing the bout with a "forced" TKO in Round 2.

The fight started with Okami having a patient approach. The Japanese challenged decided not to go toe-to-toe with Silva from the first seconds of the fight, but to feel out his opponent. Okami managed to land a few jabs, and push Anderson Silva to the fence, where he executed his dirty boxing "wear out" gameplan. Silva looked extremely good at the clinch, responding with good knees and short elbows that forced Okami back into stand up. Yushin Okami was right when he said "I'm not Chael Sonnen". Thunder attempted a takedown, but Anderson Silva defendd it easily.

The first sign of things to come was when Anderson Silva landed a strong high kick that stunned Okami. Silva went for the kill, but Yushin Okami was saved by the bell and Herb Dean who made sure the fight is not going beyond the 5-minute mark.

Second round started with Anderson Silva smelling blood. And when Anderson Silva smells blood, he plays his game. Hands down, head movement and a little bit dancing was enough to make Yushin Okami look lost. Okami tried to respond with strikes, but none of them landed clearly. It was Andersonn Silva who delivered a laser-sharp jab that knocked down Yushin Okami. Silva didn't go for the finish, because after all, he needed to give the crowd at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro the show they paid for. Anderson Silva continued to toy with Yushin Okami before finishing the fight, once again with a knock down jab and then ground and pound that forced the referee to stop the action at 2:04 minutes into Round 2.

In the end, Anderson Silva improves his streak to 14 consecutive victories and 9 title defenses. Silva's MMA record is 31-4, with 24 finishes. There's nothing else I can add.

Why everytime somebody dominates their division people are screaming for them to move up??? why cant a fighter be known and go down as a legend for dominating his divison like never before...just because you beat everybody doesnt mean you just move up in weight!!!

Because I want to see a competitive fight. Anderson has destroyed everyone except Chael. He's not even trying and makes it look so easy. You know he's going to win before he even steps into the octagon. There's no suspense and where's the fun in that?

Not really. What's this, like his 9th or 10th title defense? Why not move to 205? He could probably clear out that division too and go down in history as an uber-beast.

If there's no real competition a REAL champ will move up to Challenge himself! Silva been the middleweight champ for 5 years now... It's time for him to move up and get that LHW belt...

Because he has beaten basically every top fighter in his class. Plus He has the perfect frame for 205. Has also shown he is very big threat at 205 when he destroyed Forrest Griffin.

I think once he completely cleans out the division and if he fights GSP then he should go upto 205, if he wants to challenge himself. He very well may retire once he feels there is noone to fight at 185 or once he fights GSP.

People are saying he has cleaned out 185, while he was smashed nearly all of the opposition there are still some serious challeneges to conquer before he can claim a GSP type clean out:

    - Brian Stann is a constantly improving striker that can end the fight with a lightning fast hand combination at any time during the fight and carries big power in both hands.

    - Michael Bisping is on a hot streak with a good style to combat Silva's. He delivers clean combinations with some nice non-high kicks included in them, he isn't extremely dangerous but his striking game is very wearing especially with the hgih pace he sets. He switches between strikes ad takedowns nicely and has some nice weary ground and pound, he also owns an underrated ground game and has never been subbed.Bisping also uses some nice footwork. His biggest weakness is the power right hand and luckily enough Silva is a southpaw. He has a chance of beating Anderson in a decision but not a chance of stopping him realistically.

    - Munoz and Leben are on abit of a roll but I don't give them really any hope of beating Silva especially since Okami beat Munoz and Leben recieved one of the most one sided beatdowns in MMA history courtesy of A. Silva himself.

    - Vitor just pulled off a scary knockout over Akiyama in quick fashion, rebouding back from his 1st round loss to the champ which didn't really let Vitor show what eh could do against Silva. He may have been beat amazingly but in a rematch Vitor would surely be more careful and give himself a better chance to use at leats some skills on Silva and as we all know Vitor can put any living human being unconsious in a flash.

    - Last but not least Silva needs to redeem himself against his self-proclaimed arch-rival Chael Sonnen. Chael has had the most success any fighter has had against Silva in the UFC and was extremely close to pulling off the decision against the champ but was submitted close to the final bell. Silva claimed to have a chipped rib which hindered his performance and most importantly his takedown defense, this claim makes a rematch even more interesting, not only to see if Chael would be as dominant as last time but to see if Silva could re-inact tonight's performance against a similar style in Sonnen at 100%.

If Silva can clean out most of this list of fighters then I think he should fight GSP or move upto 205.

Anderson proved beyond any doubt that he's the Pound 4 Pound king of MMA. His performance is outstanding...The guy is on another level of excellence...I wanna see him against a good wrestler--Sonnen or Hendo...Though, I doubt they'll succeed in dethroning this long-reigning king...

The Spider is a BEAST !! I wish the UFC good luck with finding him a worthy opponent (one that actually stands a chance at middleweight). IMO Silva should just move up now cause no one is going to beat him at middleweight. He has no serious competition (yes, including Sonnen). I mean seriously... WHO IS GONNA BEAT THIS GUY??? he drops his hands down to his hips and stands in front of ELITE MMA Fighters... Dodges their punches and knocks them the **** out!!! He needs to drop "The Spider" this dude is "NEO" and The Octagon is his Matrix!

What were the oddmakers giving on this fight again? C'mon lets see if we can find at least one threat to A Silva that is not his "best friend".

GSPs' decisions are getting pretty predictable too. I mean barely anyone even has to think for that. At least we can think about what round AS will win. Do you pay to watch GSP be as safe and lovingly protected as possible?

@ falcon - I was talking about this fight and you start talking about GSP? What does that have to do with anything. I am not even a GSP fan.

Are you one of Silva's many "best friends"? Because you are aware of the size of the list right.

I mean he met Jon Jones once and he is on the list so I am assuming the criteria are not that extensive.

Using GSP as an example of predictability. I would pay to watch GSP or AS regardless of knowing the outcome. The excitment with AS though is the questions of how and when? How can anybody be bored watching AS fight?

I think the way to better Silva is, don't let him dance around. That only lets him plan, see your reactions, than find your weak spot. He will keep the pace slow first, so you think that is the actual pace of the fight. You have to surprise him. That seems to be the only one to get him.

All in all great fight, Anderson.

    Better luck next time, Yushin.

    I really liked the card.

Anderson has cleared out this division, the only guy he can embarrass now is Sonnen. Despite beating him in the past this is the only guy who has proven to be a legit challenge.

AS has proven himself again and again as the P4P best, IMO the best of all time. Hes not fighting bums, and top competitors are opting to fight in different weight divisions.

Hats off once again. I'm not a huge fan of AS but ****...the guy could close out his career as the best of all time right now. I don't see too many guys standing in his way in 205 either.

Maybe JBJ...and I would much rather see that then GSP vs AS

Okami never had a chance, i said it before and i say it again now!

Okami is not a top 5 Middleweight , only fights left for Anderson is Sonnen or Stann IF he beats Sonnen

and the rematch with Belfort who i am sure he will try to avoid

but he should just fight at 205 and prove himself as a legit legend like he likes himself to be call.

Not a legit legend already? Cause a 14 fight win streak and 9 consecutive title defenses doesn't warrant that status already?

We get it, you don't like Silva for whatever reason, but you can't say he isn't one of the best to have fought. Who's he have to fight to prove that? Hendo AGAIN? Belfort AGAIN? Sonnen AGAIN?

I expected this fight to play out more like the first round for 3 rounds with Silva being pressured up against the cage but getting in some nice hits while striking and not being completely controlled, I then expected the 4th round to go down very similar to the 2nd and Silva get the TKO.

While I did not expect it to go like this I am not surprised and Silva is definitely in his prime and I am doubtful if there is anyone except GSP, Jones and perhaps Sonnen that could give hima ny serious trouble.

He made easy work of an extremely talented and tough challenger and now I can say with the upmost confidence that he is the best fighter of all time.

i think moving to 205 would pose a challenge in the clinch with heavier opponents and against wrestlers, but the heavier guys wont stand any better of a chance against his ko power. he puts out major damage because of his accuracy, some come out swinging with wild haymakers and do less, because they dont hit the mark perfecty, AS is pretty damn good at that.

I don't know what Okami was trying to prove. Chael Sonnen pretty much gave him to map to victory and he did not take the path. He did not shoot for a takedown. Instead he took the same road as so many did and stood up with Anderson. Poor choice.

Silva is fine where he is at. If you were winning like him, why move your weight up? I don't think a weight change would change anything. You can't put a weight class on the BEST STRIKER EVER. Silva did as all the haters asked and fought up in weight and what happened? DOMINATION. If I recall Griffin (who I love) ran out of the ring crying and was laying on the ground hands up saying, "no mas!"? WTF?! and Irvin? Come onnn mannnn. Bottom line is Silva clearly has KO power and any fighters only hope is to out wrestle him...in which case they may get choked out for the attempt. Silva GOAT.

Anderson Silva vs John Jones..no other match makes sense really for Anderson.

Let Jonh Jones have 1-2 more fights defending his belt and then pit him with Anderson

These two are so much ahead of the rest of the field that i beleive it would be the most epic fight of the ages shattering all records of ppv etc

All of Silva's opponents (besides Chael) remind me of Tyson's opponents. They are beat before they even step in the cage. Yushin looked terrified going into the 2nd round. I think intimidation played a big role in this fight and thats why Okami was so timid and hesitant.... He probably would of lost anyways even if he wasn't but it would of made for a better fight lol.
