UFC 132 Results: Dominick Cruz cruzzez to Unanimous Decision victory over Urijah Faber
Posted on July 2, 2011, 11:05 PM by Anton GurevichDominick Cruz successfully defended his UFC Bantamweight title in a five-rounder against Urijah Faber at UFC 132.
As always, Cruz displayed second to none movement inside the cage, forcing Faber to counter punch during all five rounds of the fight. Faber definitely had more power behind his strikers, managing to knock down Dominick Cruz on several occasions, but it was all UFC Bantamweight Champion to everything from Octagon control through wrestling and the number of strikes he landed on Faber.
Speaking about wrestling. Urijah Faber's biggest weapon coming to this fight was his wresting and BJJ game that are superior to those of Dominick Cruz. Superior? Not really. Faber struggled to take Cruz down, and in fact, Cruz landed more successful takedowns than Urijah Faber. This way or another, fight didn't stay on the ground for more than a few seconds, as both fighters were able to quickly get back on the feet.
Cruz lowered his pace in the later rounds of the fight, but Urijah Faber was unable to change the situation and get the finish. This was by far Cruz's toughest test inside the Octagon, and a clear indication of his status as Top 5 P4P fighter.
Urijah Faber loses his fourth title fight, and goes down to 25-5 in his MMA career. And at the age of 32, Faber's chance to get another title shot in the future are getting slim. As for Cruz, 18-1 in MMA, avenged loss over the arch nemesis in Faber and surely plenty to fight for in the UFC 135 division. However, superfight at 145 against Jose Aldo is an interesting option.

Cruz vs Aldo would be an amazing fight that's for sure. I'd like to see Aldo fight at 135 against Cruz that would wicked cool.
cruz won but i disagree with 1 of the judges scoring 50-45
Yeah that was B.S. Cruz did NOT win all 5 rounds.. the fight was really close...
i had it as a 48-47 to cruz, but 50-45 is a complete joke
I like Dominick Cruz vs Mighty Mouse Johnson!
both amazing wrestlers , cardio machines! and fast pace action!
Dominick just prove hes one of the best P4P fighters for sure!
Faber was the best featherweight for a long time and he just dominated him in all aspects! great fight to end the night
It wasn't really a dominating performance but it was a win. Faber is still the guy to beat dominick in this division.
I felt 50-45 was the most accurate score for this war of a fight!
Each round Cruz landed way more strikes, got more takedowns and controlled the centre of the octagon for most of the 25 minutes.
Even though they are very evenly matched I still think Cruz won unanimously each round.
Cruz got knocked down a few times but it looked almost a hard shot knocking him off balance while rocking him slightly, since he was able to get to his feet instantly and looked fine when back up. There was oen shot which after he got up he looked very wobbly to me.
He is definetly top 10 but I don't think he should be in top 5.
well whatever the score was it was a great fight both men showed class at the end
your grammar seems.. different..
I had another one in mind: Cruz Control :)
50-45 is the right call
it may have been closer than it sounds with 50-45
but that's what it is , Faber did not won any round
the time he "drop" Cruz was more of a slip by Cruz moving in and out
50-45 exact if u know anything who lands the most wins faber only had 3 big shots
you could see from Master Tongs face (he looked at the judges card just before Buffer read it out) that Faber lost
They need to find out who called this fight 45-50 and fire his/her ass. I had it even going into the last round
Guess thats why your not a UFC judge
Hard to tell if your critisizing him or the judges.
The only area that Faber was better than Cruz was "knockdown punches", but Cruz always popped back up. it was more about getting caught off balance, due to his unorthodox movement than getting hurt.
A takedown isn't worth as much if the guy gets up right away and I'd score knockdowns the same. I'd say Faber's knockdowns were, at the very least, cancelled by Cruz's takedowns.
And for the rest of it, Cruz was better. He scored way more with his hands and was the aggressor the whole fight, always pushing Faber back, which falls under 'effective octagon control'.
Cruz didn't dominant in any round, each one was fairly close, but if it wasn't 50-45, it was 49-46.
