This Saturday night's UFC 131 headliners, Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin, who will go head to head to determine the Heavyweight division's number-one contender, discuss their match-up, as well as their strategies heading into the bout.  Dos Santos believes that cardio is Carwin's biggest weakness and says he expects "The Engineer" to look for the takedown after feeling the power in his hands.  Carwin, on the other hand, admits that the Brazilian may have sharper technique, but feels he has the heavier hands of the two. "With Carwin, I have to be a little more cautious with my stand-up (...) I don't know why, but I really think that Shane Carwin is going to try to take me down and I am prepared for that.  I'm feeling great with my ground game. I train with a lot of good guys, you know, the Nogueira brothers, Demian Maia, Anderson Silva. All of those guys are very good on the ground and they've given me a lot of confidence for this fight.  If Shane Carwin takes me down and holds me there, I will show my jiu-jitsu for the whole world."

"It's a chance to get me back into title contention and where I want to be.  I think (taking an opponent down) is a possibility with all fights.  You never know whether its going to stay on the feet or go to the ground.  He trains with some top Brazilian jiu-jitsu guys, so I don't think his ground game is lacking as much as people like to comment on it.  I think Junior has got some fast hands and I think he's probably technically a little sharper, but I think I carry more power."

Maia is part of Blackhouse now? It must be weird if him and anderson train together...

I don't think he's with blackhouse per say..He's just training with Dos Santos at the blackhouse gym. They have more than one gym.

I wish this fight would go for more than one round to see who is the better fighter: Carwin or Dos Santos...I truly can't predict the outcome of this fight...These 2 guys are monsters...Let's just hope that Carwin had improved his cardio c'oze that was his Achille's heel in the bout against Lesnar...

cardio is the only thing carwin would have too worry about . after that lesnar fight . thats why carwin cut weight in the first place . i think carwin with his new weight cut ! he was all ready tested for probably 5 rounds all ready in training for this fight ! far as dos santos ko ing carwin not going too happen .

I don't know .. Anyone can get knocked out here. They both have heavy hands and we've seen Shane rocked before(against Gonzaga). Dos Santos hits harder and more accurately than Gonzaga. Also, we have to hope that ring rust and the surgery haven't taken anything away from Carwin here. We shall see what happens. This should be a war!

This fight has about as much chance of going to decision as you do of knocking either one of these guys out.

Shane Carwin doesn't take people down and hold them there.

He takes them down and knocks them out.

    Know the difference JDS.
