UFC 128 Resluts: Schaub KO's Cro Cop
Posted on March 19, 2011, 09:37 PM by Anton GurevichUFC Heavyweight prospect Brendan "The Hybrid" Schaub KO'd Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic in the opening main card bout of the UFC 128 fight card, at the Purdential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The knockout came in the third round, just 60 seconds before the end of the fight.
Schaub enjoyed a strong opening in the first round, thanks to an effective ground and pound from the top. It looked like the former TUF 10 cast member is going to finish the business in Round 2, but Cro Cop managed to bounce back and regain control inside the Octagon. Filipovic proved his versatility in the clinch, by cutting Schaub and possibly breaking his nose in process.
Cro Cop continued to pressure Schaub in Round 3, but this time "The Hybrid" managed to time in a perfect counter punch that sent the legend senseless down to the canvas. It's Cro Cop's second consecutive KO, and can surely be the last time we have seen him inside the Octagon.
As for Schaub, "The Hybrid" improved his MMA record to 8-1. Grudge Training Center product is surely in the right direction for a shot at the title, with probably the winner of Mir-Nelson match-up being his next opponent.

That punch hit him in the ear, disoriented him, caught him off balance then the canvas knocked him out That punch was pretty fluky cause it didnt really connect.
I disagree about CC fighting well - I'm a huge fan of CC but I actually wanted Schaub to finish him after seeing the first two rounds. It proved to me that CC still can't pull the trigger and that he needs to retire. This KO should be the final straw and he should certainly retire at this point.

Same location wheres Shaub got hit in his KO against Big Country.
It's another temple area that can KO people.
I've always liked CC, and have enjoyed all of his fights over the years. With all due respect, I believe its time to gracefully pass the torch to a younger breed of fighter.

CC, you are a legend and you need to retire. Thank you for the highlight reel KOs, the great sportsmanship, the hilarious interviews/press conferences. It is time to hang up the gloves.
i thought the fight was gonna go to a draw. then pow! damn 2x he loses in the last few minutes. i think he still got it. arlovski match up would be good
