i was watching the weighs ins live on espn last night and the commentary team(bonnar, florian, gareth davies, and the 2 presenters) said the mask related to silva calling belfort 2 faced. That was because they trained together then belfort left their camp and ended up calling him out. He felt dis-respected. And one of the things he said in brazilian was 'tomorrow you will see a beating'. The commentary team said that not me.

Vitor was the one that said Silva wears a mask at the press conference, he even comments about it if you watch his comments after the stare down.

With that said, that's the type of thing you have to do if your a fighter. Silva said he considered Vitor a friend and wouldnt have accepted a fight against him, and then Vitor accepted one against Silva.

If you have to put on a championship fight against someone you consider a friend, a fighter needs to take offense to that. There is no other way you can go all out against a friend without holding back.

Pretty disrespectful of AS. Just trying to get in Vitor's head, which is funny, considering he "likes to do his talking inside the octagon". Why the antics? Unless he's scared, and feels the need to try to throw Belfort off. Can't wait to see what happens!

As I mentioned in earlier comments, how else do you think you would be able to fight someone you considered a friend in a championship fight? It's very hard to go full force without holding back anything. Imagine trying to enter a match against someone you consider a close friend...

Dude, look it up. Silva stayed with Belfort after Belforts sister was kidnapped and murdered and helped him thru the situation. They became close during that and even trained with eachother. He has been seen in the past mentioning he would never fight Belfort.

It's been cleared up in the past where they said the "Silva taking offense to Maias comments" thing was just to hype the fight.

The real reason Maia was made an example of because he was nowhere near deserving of the fight. Dana wouldnt let him change weight classes, and forced Maia when Belfort dropped out of the fight.

Lets be real - Maia defeating Dan Miller in no way should have earned him a #1 contender spot. Especially so soon after getting dominated by Marquardt. Dan Miller has not defeated anyone who is of a decent caliber in the division.

Saying Maia deserved the title shot for beating Dan Miller is like saying Michael Bisping deserved a title shot for doing the same thing. That's crazy talk.

Aside from the side show that was the Demian Maia fight, the only times Anderson has acted a fool at the weigh ins is with people who disrespected him (Sonnen). Vitor did actually call him a phony and said he wears a mask. Thats why he had the mask. Not saying its okay, but there is a reason other then hes a scumbag.

I prefer when fighters see MMA as a sport rather than some bad ass fight to the death thingy. I understand pumping a fight to sell tickets, especially when you get part of the buy ins or the gate. But come on, that was silly. Sometimes acting nice to a douche-bag is the best tactic. But sometimes you have to say enough is enough. I didn't like that stare down. Although it did make excited to see the fight, but only to see Anderson get beaten.

I'm not gonna lie. Anderson Silva is one of the best fighters of this age. but he doesn't have the character of a champion. part of how martial arts makes you a better person is the fact that it ends up humbling you. Silva has lost that. everything's gotten to his head and hes just a skinnier Brazilian Brock Lesnar. Actually i take that back. Brock is definitely more humble than Silva.

Not so sure this is the way forward for mma. Kinda playground mentality if you ask me. However amusing it appears, MMA is supposed to be about discipline and respect, not behaving like children. None the less will be setting my alarm tonight to see this intriguing match up along with a very good card the UFC has put together.

He should want to fight the best, to see who is the best !!

Silva will never be a well liked champion because of his weak hype tactics !

You jabrones need to realize Dana is the one who encourages this stuff. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he doesn't script it. He needs to take a back seat now and let someone with more class run the ufc. Otherwise we are going to be left with even more ridiculous charades. Not to mention throwing, scripting, and crafting fights. Strikeforce may not have better fighters yet but they have better fights so far. I am so sick of Dana Whites crap he has such a sleaze about him and the sport will never evolve past this kind of crap with him at the wheel.

movescamp. this is MMA, not pro wrestling. there is no acting in this sport. Dana White is probably more responsible than anyone else for this sport being so popular in the U.S. so if you actually like the sport, stop giving Dana shit and don't mistake emotion for acting. Anderson is pissed because Vitor used to train with Anderson at Blackhouse and now he's trying to take his belt. that's true anger. still i don't think that's how a champion should act.

well depends what you call good fights, strikeforce has had a run of "finishes" recently, but thats only down to their matchmaking style of pitting their good fighters against their only-just-credible fighters to either give us the expected brutal finish or the dramatic upset..

unfortunately it's not something they can stop doing either sinse theres such a big gap between their champs and their contenders

These guys don't like each other, that is evident. When you have two dumb asses who hate each other and don't know how to fight, they come in and throw wild bombs. But when you have two skilled elite fighters who dislike each other, it's pretty. It's going to be a great night of fights.

ok. i think some people might think calling Anderson a skinny Brazilian Brock Lesnar was stupid. but i didn't mean that they are similar in talent level or styles. i meant they are similar in they way they treat people who go after the title. i personally think everyone who enters the octagon deserves the respect of the fans. and i think whoever earns their way to a title shot should deserve the respect of the champion. Champions should represent the sport. acting childish just makes everyone look bad. i think Brock might have already learned that. we'll find out in TUF. The way I see Anderson act he seems to pretend to be humble, but he is very full of himself, which is the worst kind of arrogance in my opinion.
