i wanna see rich franklin in the LHW mix. i think he has what it takes to be top 5. he's very well rounded only person to make him look like a rookie was A.Silva... but silva did that to just about all his opponents except chael

IMO it is even more so because back then Silva didn't mess around. Now he seems to take forever to find his range/warmup. And once he does he does a few monkey dances then gases.

All three of those fights are hard to call IMO, and they are perfect match-ups both stylistically and sensibly (in terms of place in each respective division). It is very hard to go against Jones though, unless Bader can expose something that we have not yet seen. Bader has faced better competition, but Jones has obliterated every guy he faced. Rich and Forrest, you have Forrest as the bigger stronger fighter with a better ground game, and Rich as the more athletic, explosive, fast, and probably better striker. I can't see Rich losing to a guy who is less athletic than him though. I see this going like the Rashad fight, Forrest will do good early, but eventually get caught. If he can survive it then he could eek out a decision but we will see. As for Andy vs Vitor, this is a fight I have wanted to see forever. I think it will all depend on if Vitor has truly overcame the mental obstacles that have held him back in the past (prevailing when things don't go his way early). Perhaps he won't even have to though. I really do believe that Vitor is the bigger dictator in how this fight plays out. I foresee an aggressive Vitor, rather than a counter striker like in his fight against Rich and many before that. I think he will move forward throwing punches, but also use that to close the distance and get a clinch, to see how his physical strength matches up against Andersons. However though, I don't have a good gage of Andersons personality, and I may be overlooking his ability to gameplan. He has shown in the past that he doesn't always play to his oppenents strengths, but rather his own and their weaknesses, and I wouldn't be surprised if he put Vitor against the cage. I do think he will use his reach advantage and stay on the outside trying to frustrate Vitor by picking him apart, which may work. I think it is essential for Anderson to not just stand there and strike with Vitor, if he does his night may end early, because Vitor has probably been hit less on the feet in his career than Anderson, and Vitor has considerably more punching power. Also its clear Anderson has an advantage in terms of mixing it up, and he would be foolish not to use it. When its all said and done though, I do think overall Anderson is the more talented fighter, and with the right gameplan he should beat anyone, I just question whether he is willing to devise the right game plan for Vitor, and realize Vitor is the most dangerous oppenent for him throughout his hole career, and has scary power and finishing instincts. I'll go with the upset tho.

Also the fact Vitor is a south paw I believe is beneficial to him. In Andersons fights against southpaws (Maia, Sonnen, Rich), he has been hit with punches at some point during the fight. I only ever remember Vitor being his with a good shot against Chuck, but maybe I am missing one cause i havn't watched all his fights or all Anderons fights.

I seee rich beating forrest, but not really for any specific reason but i'll admit id like to see rich win. I want forrest to shock the top 3, but i don't really cheer for him to win agaisnt rich.

Don't see how someone can say that bader has defeated better competition than jon jones unless you dont know who matyushenko is. Jones is the more creative, less predictable, more diverse fighter. He seems strong and durable so he shouldn't have any trouble winning this at all, it's bader that needs to be ready for what jones throws at him. Predictable fighters are easier to prepare for, Bader doesn't know what to prepare for if he nor anyone ese can even foresee certain things being a problem for him

I don't think southpaw matters in the silva fight. Anderson gets hit against guys who can't strike the same way he gets taken down by people who he feels don't pose any threat on the ground. he doesn't drop his hands and offer free shots to good strikers the same way he doesn't sit down against BJJ blackbelts. Silva traditionally elevates himself in better competition whie vitor stoops, and vitor is more vulnerable to head games than silva(sakuraba) which saw sakuraba trick him into thinking he wasn't a standup fighter. Vitor seems far more careful now than he once did however, but i think it's AS's fight to win or lose.

Out of all the opponents Jones and Bader have faced, Lil Nog is by far the best. A real top 10 guy. I think that is where this notion comes from

That is very true, Silva has a strong tendency to rise to the occasion against top fighters, and Belfort has a very strong tendency to get rattled. So maybe its both of their fight to win or lose.

Yea, isn't that the guy matyushenko beat?

Vitor belforts weakness has traditionally been his mind, silvas weakness has traditionally been his ego. Silva doesn't seem to let his ego get the better of him when he feels challenged, vitor seems to get mind******* whenever things don't go perfectly early on

Matyshenko beat him in 2002 by decision. But Nog beat Matyshenko in 2009 by KO....

And I agree with the second part lol. It is more likely that Anderson shows up in a better state of mind thatn Vitor, based on what we have seen out of each of them (Even though Vitor has looked strong lately, he hasn't been pushed lately also). In a perfect world they both show up, Anderson with no ego, Vitor with a strong mental game. What happens?

If vitor showed up with strong mental game then maybe he wouldnt punch himself out and go to get countered, but then he just gets picked apart from range and diverse strikes. Then he tries to go to the ground like he did against chuck but he eats a few there and i don't know how strong you think his BJJ is, but anderson is no southworth.

There's really not much i can say for vitor other than flash KO best scenario.

Yea, so they're 1-1... Matyushenko is a very solid fighter. In fact, I would like to see that rematch if at all possible. However, the UFC has treated Vlad like a second tier fighter because of marketing. He is 3-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming in the fight with Jones. They weren't big name opponents because the UFC hasn't given him any big name opponents... Nog has a loss to Bader, which is equivalent to Vlad's loss to Jones, but we all know he also lost to Brilz, even tho they gave the decision to Nog anyway. So not to far off competition wise.

Vlad is definitely under rated, and could probably give a good fight to some top guys, I think that's part of the reason they fed him to Jones. Lil Nog is similar in terms of experiance and level of competition as well, but I just think that Lil Nog is a tougher fight for Jones and Bader than Vlad is.

MMA math has absolutely nothing to do with what we are discussing here... We are talking about whether or not Matyushenko is as good a fighter as Nog. I was considering the two fights between them in the past and their win/loss ratio. MMA math would be if I said Nog beat x-fighter and x-fighter beat Vlad, so then Nog must be able to beat Vlad. However, thats not what was done there.

On a side note, thats actually a logical equation, not a mathematical one... So really it shouldn't be considered MMA Math, it should be MMA Fallacy... Not quite as catchy tho : p

I hope jon jones will humble ryan bader . Bader is just jealous of jones ,cause he is not as skilled and creative as him.

I think bader deserves few slaps.

Ryan Bader will make a great action figure in the future and also if it was a Bodybuilding Contest with Bader's body oiled up, and nicely tanned, I would say Jon Jones was in deep trouble, unfortunately it's not. Jones is the better fighter and I have to go with him in this one.

Vitor's really quick hands could make him catch Silva with a KO. He has really good boxing skills and has competed in an amature boxing match in his earlier days.

i'm so excited to see this card.

The fight i'm really looking forward to is the Jones-Bader fight,

not because Jones would dominate the fight,

but I would like to see how Bader prepared for this

given the hype for Jon Jones,

and to mention both hungry and young fighters.

As for the rest Griffin-Franklin, too close to call both fan favorites.

And Silva-Belfort, an exciting match-up on paper but IMO at this point in Belfort's career, he's not that excited to get belt.

But then again we could be in for real shocker, and that's what makes a great fight card. :)

Yeah you're right Rochefort, AS is a shitty fighter, not well rounded at all. That's why he's 12-0 in the UFC against stand up fighters, wrestlers, or world class BJJ experts and beat them all. I can't believe Joe Rogan said he's well rounded, he probably doesn't know what he's talking about, since he's been comentating for 11 years.

Same here, even though i can't make up my mind about who i want to win the Franklin/Griffin fight since i love both of them... But i think Franklin is less sloppy, faster and not that much smaller...

But i guess i'll be happy to see any of them win. I think it will be a decision cuz i can't see any of the two being able to finish the other.
