I'm so happy for Jones. Wish him the best!
Jones learned the choke by simply watching GSP, drill it and he'd never tried it before he applied it to Bader? Wow. That is truly amazing, particularly given the fact that the guy he pulled it on is a serious wrestler.
Donald Cerrone - so sorry to hear about his Grandfather and shows you what a mentally tough guy he is, to put that out of his head and not only fight, but win and win impressively. Congratulations on a solid victory over a solid fighter and my deepest condolences to DC and his family, for their loss. God Bless.
I really have to say I am so glad the WEC guys are now part of the UFC--as predicted, they have brought a new excitement to fight cards.
Cerrone was not his usual self in his fight, yet he pulled off a win--even after being sucker punched. After I heard about the death in his family, and how he fought through his grief, my respect for him has grown immensely.
As I have said elsewhere, kudos to Miguel Torres. He is on track for a title shot if he keeps on fighting smart. His standup was superb, but if Buenolos had pressed him more, we would have seen more of the fireworks this former champion has at his disposal. His composure in the octagon is amazing.
Chad Mendez fought a fantastic fight against the dangerous Omigawa, and actually dominated him. I look to see him taking a run at the title too.
Gotta love Mighty Mouse, who upset the Japanese legend, Kid Yamamoto in his first UFC fight.
What can I say about Jon Jones that has not already been said. Every time he steps into the octagon, he brings it, with excitement, and it feels like a title match--and now, he will get his chance against Shogun.
This is bittersweet for me, since I like both fighters--but I am totally pumped now for the Shogun vs. Jones card.
Mad props to Shogun who took the abrupt change in opponents like a champ should.
