i think forrest beat both rampage and shogun, but the thing with the guy is he is probably the least athletically gifted fighter in the ufc, and rampage and shogun are beasts in their own unique styles
Edgar and Maynard are far from the most charismatic personality's, remember the UFC doesn't care about the hardcore fans it's the casual fans don't make the difference in PPV buys so do the math Title fight + Slugfest as the co main event = $$. And who else is Leben supposed to fight ? there not gonna put him on a title run after the way Silva demolished him so why not put him in a slug fest. can't wait to Silva vs Vera either.
i think they choose the fights based more on how easy it will be to sell. they're plugging the leben stann fight by convincing people it will be a slugfest between 2 strikers and potential fight of the night. just like they're using the maynard edgar fight as a revenge themed kinda thing, although in this case, maynard is the no.1 contender.

I think this one is going to come down to who has improved the most and that is clearly Edgar. Maynard really hasn't changed since then. He hasn't had to. When you look at Edgar in that fight and in the two with BJ, he looks like two different fighters. This is especially true of his stand up. He is light years ahead of where he was in the first fight with Maynard. I think it will still be close but I see Edgar getting a unanimous decision victory. If he does, the Pettis fight will be EPIC.
Chris Leben is an exciting fighter with wild punches, but my heart with Brian Stann and the strong feeling he will pulls off this fight with better condition.imo

Maynard completely outwrestled Edgar in the first fight, and the standup (imo Edgar's only possible advantage) was even.
Like Rogan said, they are almost mirror images- except its one of those curved mirrors that makes one of the images bigger. Maynard has a significant size and strength advantage. All else being equal, that translates to a win. Maynard will win another dominating if boring decision.
