I agree about Carwin addressing a cardio issue is easier than lacking in skills and trying to improve. As for Cain being no1 not surely he has to defend his belt first and beat JDS. If he does that before Overeem or Fedor fight each other(not holding my breathe on that one) no doubt he'd be no 1. I'm no UFC fan boy but these dudes outside the UFC are just not active enough Brock Lesnar has fought 2 more times than Fedor and nearly died and as for Overeem i like him a lot but who's he really beaten at HW ?
Thats what i think too rigo. He looks promising but I need him to fight carwin and dos first and then i will know if he's top 3 maybe even 1st. Carwin might be first yet though as he dominated brock even more in the 1st round and he may be different in his next fight for 2nd round and beyond.
I have always had a strict need for brock to face guys like carwin, cain dos, overeem, fedor, and werdum before I foolishly ranked him num 1. I have never though frank mir was the best or in top 5 so i was not sold on his fights with mir at all. carwin made me believe he was given a blessing of a 2nd round.
explain why that is a laugh? So he automatically beats them having never fought them and one is undefeated and the other dominated more than cain did against brock. It's just like I never saw Brock as the num 1 as he never faced the guys I thought were his toughest tests until carwin was his first which did not sell me.
Because he has the best wrestling in the heavyweight division... as proven today. He was the 1st guy to KO NOG by outboxing him!! His cardio is through the roof and you sir need to quit hating
I am all for cain man, but carwin outwrestled brock too and in a more convincing manner as well as being even more dominant. I am not ready to jump on the indestructable cain wagon yet.
right. I think for brock it was very unuasual circumstances that gave him that win and a rematch would be round 1 and only round 1. He was dominated even more so than cain did but I am not saying cain can't beat carwin I am just not sure he can and we have yet to see dos santos do his part so I am not ready to call him num 1 heavy or top 3 yet although I do believe he is in the mix big time.
Ok but thinkin about it, brock won the fight with Carwin, and Cain beat lesnar so in reality cain is #1. He's the champ so we need to accept that. So glad that cain won that fight.
who has allistar fought at heavyweight in mma nobody, while i agree he has great potential you cant rate the guy number 2 with his best win over brett rogers i guy that doesnt even belong in the top ten. fedor just lost so there is no point in saying he is number 1 it has gotta to be cain
you can measure the fighter by what they do in a fight as well and overeem is a force for sure as is fedor still. cain is definetly getting in the mix now but carwin did dominate brock even more than cain for the 1st round. cain is ranked 1st in ufc and i agree with that but it is yet to be decided if he can hold it or show his dominance over guys like fedor and overeem. we are getting ahead of ourselves if we think he is num 1 already.
How can ppl say that Carwin dominated Lesnar more than Cain did, did Carwin finish the fight, did Carwin out wrestle Lesnar, did Carwin become the UFC Heavyweight Champ, well umm let me think........NOOOOOO!!!!!!
Domination in the 1st round is the reference as far as complete control and punishment. Carwin took nothing and gave everything. Cain took some but dominated most. Ca in hasn't faced Carwin and most believe Carwin would demolish brock again.
yes you can measure guy by what they do in a fight. but anybody can look awesome if you find them the right opponent and so far allistar has yet to really fight any decent comp[etition at hw
I think your jumping the gun like so many do and i will be happy with cain as num 1 but there are still to many ifs until he defends it against certain top contenders. All I am denying is his guaranteed status at num 1.
Cain is one the greatest, he's destroyed all of his opponents and he's only getting better I don't think junior will be much of a challenge because cain has better technique and more skills, he will be the champ for a long time.
Without a doubt tonights performance was unbelievable as cain once again demonstrated his tremendous talent, but there are still alot of questions before his legacy is cemented. Such as the boxing of jds, the power of carwin, and a possible second fight with brock. Without a doubt the sky is the limit and its looking nowhere but up for him, but there are still alot of things he has to do in the hw divison. Also even if he beats jds hands and carwins power and size and possibly a return of brock there are always the 2 big questions with fedor and overeem. Both would be ****ing amazing fights but doubt they will ever happen. But if he clears out ufc's division he'd be in my top3 for sure
Fedor is in the mix still but i agree he cannot be regarded as num 1 until he earns it again and although I think he would beat most guys in heavy still he might not beat carwin or cain or overeem so to me there is 4 or 5 guys that might get the mark when the time comes. for now cain is UFC champ and we will see if that is truly what he is soon enough.
Well, who is the #1 heavyweight in MMA, in your opinion?
Right now, I'm going with Cain Velasquez, followed by Junior Dos Santos (I can't wait for that fight!). Overeem really hasn't fought anyone at HW and Fedor just lost to Werdum. How are they even close to being #1?
However, I will say that Fedor, Werdum, Overeem, Lesnar, and Carwin are definitely top 10 HWs.
I am a bit like you in that I have no idea since the top guys in my opinion havn't faced each other yet. If you say Cain I am not surprised, if you say Fedor it is justifiably arguable, if you say Dos Santos it is fair game too, I even think Carwin may have a spot there as well. overeem although not truly tested has absolutely astonishing power and speed and a lot of experience so i couldn't hate on somebody saying he is num 1. I still think Brock is in top 10 but not because of his skills. I have never thought of Brock as a very skilled mma fighter and i don't know how he was even considered as a p4p contender(give me a break).
when you rank a fighter as number 1 it doesnt have anything to do with things like i think he is unbeatable no one could touch him ect ect ect it has to with that fighters recent preformances against top talent right now cain is 9-0 and has beaten a good champion in brock. no one else can say that allistar has only fought twicw in the last two years once to fujita and once to rogers. fedor has recently had a loss.
Brock was an awful champion, he gets rag dolled by good strikers. Last night he looked way out of his depth, same as he did against carwin. I personally still have Fedor as #1 despie his loss although there is good arguement why Cain should be now after that performance. If Cain beats JDS and Carwin then he defo #1 but his resume isnt that deep and brock was a false #1 having been way overhyped and fuking his last victory.
wheres all the brock fans now, not one of them saying shit for brock, now they will jump onto cains back and throw brock out the window, 2 faced bitches
Why are some people comparing Cane with Carwin?? Cane is on another level - better striking, better wrestling, i wont compare their cardio(it's a blasphemy) and he faced better opponents( the only notable opponents Carwin faced and beat were Gonzaga and Mir). And even though Carwin dominated round 1 against Lesnar, in round 2 he disgraced himself by gassing out. Imagine the number 1 contender gassing in the beginning of round 2!!??!
The only one who can touch Cain at the moment in the UFC is Junior Dos Santos. He also is undefeated in the UFC and i think has the best stand-up game. Apart from him there are also Overeem and Fedor who definitely are among top 5 HW.
I believe cain is a better fighter but carwin is still in this mix as his gassing was something seen in many fighters that thought the fight would be stopped by 3 minutes of continuous GNP by the Ref as it was stopped for Cain. I still give Carwin a chance because his domiantion was even more apparent in the first round. Cain may very well beat him to a pulp but that is something I will need to see in this case.
cain has gotta be number1. carwin is no doubt a threat to anyone and he is very powerful, and could well have beaten lesnar, but i think it would be a pretty easy opponent for cain, who has excellent take down defence and top level standup. he has proved it against lesnar, but i think he showed himself best against big nog, that was world class boxing on display there.
and i think jds is actually his biggest threat right now so if he can beat him, which i think he will, he will cement himself as the no.1 HW.
My big question about Cain was could he handle those big guys (Brock, Carwin, Overeem etc.) and if he ended up on the ground underneath one of them how would he react. Cain proved he can get up off his back and is strong enough to move the bigger men. Combine that with the left hook on sports science and I'm sold.
To answer the question is he the best? It's hard to say since at least 3 of the top HW's in the world fight elsewhere but to me he'd be at least even money with the top HW's in the world.
As you see from my name im a Fedor fan, but Cain Valasquez is the number 1 HW right now, starting in the Rothwell fight and then especially in the Nog fight I thought this is the HW that has the ability to become like a Fedor, he can strike with speed and power and he can work the ground with heavy gnp. I just never saw Lesnar being number one cause I cant say a fighter is number one if the only have one skill set and Lesnar only had wrestling, it was crazy good wrestling but this is Mixes Martial arts
Keep in mind Fedor was P4P #1 let alone the #1 HW 3 years before Cain even had his first MMA fight. Fedor the GOAT but he's 34 and being the smallest HW out there age will be harder for him to overcome in the next few years.
cain is definitely the no.1 HW in the world right now. i had no problem giving fedor the number 1 spot purely for his unbeaten record but now that that's gone you have to look at the fact that he's not fighting the best out there. i think he needs to beat the likes of overeem before he can get back to no.1. overeem is up there in the top 3 too but again, he hasn't really been tested and isn't even defending his belt regularly. but it's clear to see that his k-1 background gives him some of the best stand up in the game and he's a powerhouse. i hope he comes to the ufc soon so he can tear through the division and prove his worth. i think any of those 3 guys could beat each other so hopefully one day we'll get to see them fight.
Comments
If he gets through carwin and dos santos I will be sold for top 3
the others being overeem, and fedor in top 3. Carwin may pull off a win yet though as he dominated brock even more until the 2nd round.
I will say tie with Fedor , and Alistar just behind them for and inch!
But until they fight we cant know for sure!
@Falcon
I agree about Carwin addressing a cardio issue is easier than lacking in skills and trying to improve. As for Cain being no1 not surely he has to defend his belt first and beat JDS. your idiot please shut up lol at caewin
Thats what i think too rigo. He looks promising but I need him to fight carwin and dos first and then i will know if he's top 3 maybe even 1st. Carwin might be first yet though as he dominated brock even more in the 1st round and he may be different in his next fight for 2nd round and beyond.

he cant be tie with fedor, look at the people he faced
overeem cain fedor badass fighters
Um **** that he is in the UFC he has UFC gold Overroid wouldnt be able to deal with the wrestling and Fedor is a no go Cain is Number one!
Lmfao def top three if he gets through Carwin and Santos? haha ok w/e you say
explain why that is a laugh? So he automatically beats them having never fought them and one is undefeated and the other dominated more than cain did against brock. Wait.... So if Cain beats Carwin he is number one, but when Brock beat him it meant nothing right?
right. I think for brock it was very unuasual circumstances that gave him that win and a rematch would be round 1 and only round 1. He was dominated even more so than cain did but I am not saying cain can't beat carwin I am just not sure he can and we have yet to see dos santos do his part so I am not ready to call him num 1 heavy or top 3 yet although I do believe he is in the mix big time.
that's okay falcon lmfao... Cain had plenty doubters before the fight but he'll turn you over once he beats them both
Lol, all of that doesn't matter. The logic is invalid.
So why is valid when you make a point about Frank Mir possibly beating Cain?
It would be cool if he did. I am not a hater just because I think he is yet to prove himself number 1.
I would say so...I had Lesnar as number one before but now it's only fair that he gets that rank
Agreed lol where else would he be? Possibly behind Fedor but considering Fedor lost... Cain is #1
let him fight carwin...if he beats carwin too, then he is the best beyond any question
True.....what happened?
Ok but thinkin about it, brock won the fight with Carwin, and Cain beat lesnar so in reality cain is #1. He's the champ so we need to accept that. So glad that cain won that fight.
btw im not hatin on cain by sayin, i just really think carwins still a monster and a handful for anybody
I have Cain as my number 1 HW fighter in the World
who has allistar fought at heavyweight in mma nobody, while i agree he has great potential you cant rate the guy number 2 with his best win over brett rogers i guy that doesnt even belong in the top ten. fedor just lost so there is no point in saying he is number 1 it has gotta to be cain

agree completely and jackthedrinker should too.

*fluking
fedor no1 overeem no2
hell no, he's not even the best heavyweight in the UFC.
Jesus, it's his first belt. Give it some time, he has to go through a lot of guys to prove that he's number Heavyweight.
Santos first Carwin after if he beats Nelson.Nelson gave a hard time to JDS some one like Arlovski finished Nelson TKO
in any fight any one can beat anybody is no 100 % dosent mater who you are fighting. JDS,Carwin or Nelson can drop Cain with one punch
wheres all the brock fans now, not one of them saying shit for brock, now they will jump onto cains back and throw brock out the window, 2 faced bitches
indeed my friend

no hes not
what are you replying too?
@ Jamz: If Cain aint number 1 HW in the UFC, then who is?
fedor would killl cain in a slug fest.....
that would definetly be a war
What did I tell you guys? Once the UFC's heavyweights start beating each other, we will start to look at them all differently.
good point. There are a lot of fights that can happen, finally the HW division is starting to get interesting.
Junior Dos Santos is.
Not yet, just like Lesnar wasn't. But, people tend to believe whatever the UFC primetime episodes and Dana White tells them.
just like you
overeem and fedor two baddest guys out there fact cain is number three
irrelivant really.
cain has gotta be number1. carwin is no doubt a threat to anyone and he is very powerful, and could well have beaten lesnar, but i think it would be a pretty easy opponent for cain, who has excellent take down defence and top level standup. he has proved it against lesnar, but i think he showed himself best against big nog, that was world class boxing on display there.

CAIN WOULD DOMINATE ANY HEAVYWEIGHT IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW I SEE HIM TAKING JDS OUT IN THE FIRST 3 MIN.
anybody can look like gold one night
and mold the next
so let's not get too carried away with Cain
his record up to Lesner isn't exactly one to knock you eyes out
when he has a successful defense or two under his belt
then we can start talking comparisions
with Fedor and Overeem
and such other guys that have been earning thier reps
Keep in mind Fedor was P4P #1 let alone the #1 HW 3 years before Cain even had his first MMA fight. Fedor the GOAT but he's 34 and being the smallest HW out there age will be harder for him to overcome in the next few years.
