UFC 113 Awards and Bonuses
Posted on May 9, 2010, 01:03 AM by Anton GurevichUltimate Fighting Championship awarded $65,000 bonuses for the best-performing fighters at the UFC 113 event, this Saturday. The event was held at The Bell Center in Montreal, Canada, headlined by the Light Heavyweight Title rematch between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Shogun Rua.
Kickboxing expert Alan "The Talent" Belcher earned submitted the returning Patrick Cote in the middle of the second round via a Rear Naked Choke, earning the prestigious "Submission of the Night" award. Belcher gets into the mix for the shot at the UFC Middleweight title, with a second consecutive victory in the UFC.
Also, the striking war between Jeremy Stephens and the Canadian Sam Stout has earned a well-deserved "Fight of the Night" awards, after both fighters went toe-to-toe during three rounds of action. Jeremy Stephens won the Split Decision, as Sam Stout's fans have every right to feel that the fight could have gone either way.
Finally, newly-crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua won the "Knockout of the Night" award for his dethroning combo that send Machida to the La-La Land for the first time in his career. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion was out cold during long minutes, signaling the end of the "Machida Era". Shogun Rua will probably face the winner of the Rashad Evans vs Rampage Jackson fight, sometime in the end of this year.
UFC 113 bonuses are by $10,000 lower than at UFC 112, where Rafael Dos Anjos, DeMarques Johnson, Mark Munoz and Kendall Grove earned $75,000 for their performances.
