On April 10th, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will travel once again to another part of the globe to present a star-packed UFC 112: Invincible fight card. The event will take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and will be the first ever UFC attraction to be held under an open air arena.

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva will look to continue his path of destruction against the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu maverick Demian Maia, who knows that the only way to beat Silva is to challenge him on the ground. ADCC and BJJ Mundial Champion, Demian Maia will try to follow the example of Ryo Chonan and Daiju Takase who submitted Anderson Silva in Pride. “The Spider” will look for a sixth title defense against Maia, which could also be his 11th consecutive win inside The Octagon.  An impressive victory over Demian Maia will clearly solidify Silva’s place at the top of the heap of the Pound-for-Pound rankings, above fighters like Georges St. Pierre, BJ Penn and Fedor Emelianenko.

Speaking of BJ Penn, UFC Lightweight Champion will be featured as the co-main event attraction of the evening, fighting against the stubborn Frankie “The Answer” Edgar. Penn has destroyed every Lightweight title challenger, with names like Kenny Florian, Diego Sanchez and Sean Sherk among his victims. Frankie Edgar will look to outplay “The Prodigy” using his footwork and the impressive Boxing skills. 11-1 Edgar was never finished in his five-year career, as the Unanimous Decision loss to Gray Maynard is the only imperfection on his record.

Also, the legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Master Renzo Gracie will look for revenge against the former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes, who will welcome the Brazilian in his UFC debut. Terry Etim will square off against the submission artist Rafael Dos Anjos, as the Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove will go to war against Mark Munoz in the main card opener of the night.

Jon Madsen def. Mostapha Al Turk via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Paul Kelly def. Matt Veach via Submission (Guillotine choke) - Round 2, 3:41
DaMarques Johnson def. Brad Blackburn via TKO (strikes) - Round 3, 2:08
Rick Story def. Nick Osipczak via Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Phil Davis def. Alexander Gustafsson via Submission (
Anaconda choke) - Round 1, 4:55

Mark Munoz def. Kendall Grove
via TKO 2:50 of Round 2
Round 1: The fight is underway, Kendall Grove enjoys a huge reach advantage here. Grove is the aggressor early on, and it looks like Mark Munoz will have to use his superior wrestling to get through this fight. Munoz shoots on Grove, and he takes him down. Munoz looks to ground and pound Grove, but “Da Spyder” gets up successfully. Munoz attacks grove at the fence with a good combination! Grove shakes it off and the fight continues. Mark Munoz shortens the distance and looks to take Grove to the ground, Hawaii-native sprawls and unleashes huge hammerfists to Munoz’ head… the referee may stop it… no. Mark Munoz survives. “The Pilipino Wrecking Machine” gave up his striking, he constantly tries to take Grove down, but with a very little success.  Munoz shoots again but Grove sprawls right into the Anaconda Choke! So close, but Munoz manages to escape.  Guillotine Choke from Kendall Grove! And Munoz escapes again. Kendall Grove dominates Mark Munoz here.  A clear 10-9 round.
Round 2: Mark Munoz looks desperate, but he somehow manages to trouble Kendall Grove with a vicious overhand right. Grove is not impressed and responds with a powerful knee! Munoz looks in trouble for the second time in that fight, but Kendall Grove fails to finish the Black House product. Munoz looks refreshed now, dominates Kendall Grove on the ground with a fierce Ground and Pound. It looks like Mark Munoz is going to win back this round. Vicious punches from Mark Munoz! Kendall Grove is in trouble! And… the fight is over! Mark Munoz ground and pounds Kendall Grove! Wonderful comeback from Munoz!
Rafael Dos Anjos def. Terry Etim
via Submission (Armbar) 4:40 of Round 2
Round 1: Terry Etim is the bigger fighter here, while Rafael Dos Anjos comes in southpaw. Etim has the Octagon control meanwhile, but Dos Anjos tries to catch him with a powerful-looking combinations.  Terry Etim catches Dos Anjos with a quick flying Guillotine! The choke is very deep! Rafael Dos Anjos is nowhere near to escape it. The only way for Rafael Dos Anjos to escape this if Terry Etim decides to release the hold.  Yes, Etim takes a decision to not blow up his arms and releases the Guillotine choke. Rafael Dos Anjos escapes and continues with a vicious Ground and Pound! Vicious knees to the body from Dos Anjos! The referee warns the Brazilian not to hit Terry Etim’s spine. And now Dos Anjos is deducted one point for illegal strikes. Rafael Dos Anjos is the more aggressive fighter here, as Terry Etim takes a more patient approach. Terry Etim wins this round, but only because Dos Anjos was deducted one point for illegal strikes. 10-9 Etim.
Round 2: Rafael Dos Anjos takes a very aggressive approach in the second round of the fight. Terry Etim is counter-punching now, with a very little effect. Dos Anjos decides that he had enough of that striking war and takes Terry Etim to the ground. Rafael Dos Anjos is in Etim’s half guard now, he works his ground and pound with a clear intentions to advance to the full mount. Terry Etim is struggling here to defend his position. Good elbows from Dos Anjos. Full mount from Dos Anjos! The Brazilian smells blood! Terry Etim defends well and pushes Dos Anjos back to the half-guard. Rafael Dos Anjos begins to work his submission, he has a very good opportunity here for a North –South choke, but no, he advances to the Kimura… Terry Etim is in a deep trouble here! Dos Anjos changes his mind and delivers a vicious armbar! Terry Etim is close to tapping! Yes! Rafael Dos Anjos taps out Terry Etim! Huge victory!
Matt Hughes def. Renzo Gracie
via TKO 4:38 of Round 3
Round 1: Renzo Gracie centers the ring, taking the dominant position early on. Both fighters are measuring up the distance, but it looks like Matt Hughes is going to be the more aggressive fighter of the night. Good body kick from Matt Hughes. Renzo Gracie is looking for a stand-up war here, but from Matt Hughes’ stance it is clear that the former Welterweight Champ will take down Gracie in the first opportunity he has. Renzo Gracie looks confident with his striking! He pushes Matt Hughes to the fence, but Hughes attempts a quick takedown. Gracie defends well and they center the Octagon again. Matt Hughes does well by keeping the distance from Renzo Gracie, who seems to have a superior striking in that fight. First Round ends. Renzo Gracie dominates this fight, winning a 10-9 round.
Round 2: Second Round begins in the very same way, Renzo Gracie is the more aggressive fighter here, but Matt Hughes is looking for an opening to take Gracie down. Good combinations from Renzo! Nothing connects just yet, but these combos surely do the job for the judges. Matt Hughes tries to take Renzo Gracie down here, he comes very close here… Renzo Gracie defends very well. Good jabs from Renzo Gracie! Former Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes is close to losing another round here. Not much action here; Renzo Gracie attacks without making any damage, as Matt Hughes defends. The crowd is booing as the Second Round ends. 10-9 for Renzo Gracie, and Matt Hughes is in a very deep trouble.
Round 3: Renzo Gracie won the first two rounds, forcing Matt Hughes to chase him for a knockout in the third. Hughes is a more aggressive fighter in this round, he pushes Renzo Gracie to the fence and connects with a good low kick and uppercuts. Good punches from Matt Hughes! Renzo Gracie is in a deep trouble here, he looks stunned but Matt Hughes refuses to finish him. Hughes was so close to win this fight! Good combinations from Matt Hughes! Matt Hughes lowkicks Renzo Gracie who falls down!  Gracie is exhausted here, and if Matt Hughes will not win that fight it will be a huge disappointment for the former Champion. Gracie is down for the second time! Poor third round from Renzo Gracie here, BJJ legend is embarrassed in this fight. Someone has to stop this fight! Matt Hughes unleashes good combos and knocks down Renzo Gracie for the third (or fourth) time…. Renzo Gracie is clearly out here… and it is all over! Herb Dean finally stops the fight. Matt Hughes was patient and clearly deserved a victory in that fight.
Frankie Edgar def. BJ Penn
 via Unanimous Decision (50-45, 48-47, 49-46)
Round 1: UFC Lightweight Title fight is underway. BJ Penn is in a traditional stance, as Frankie Edgar moving quickly around measuring a jab distance. Frankie Edgar is taking a very aggressive approach here, he tries angled striking and good low kicks. BJ Penn is a much bigger fighter here, something we do not see in every fight. “The Answer” tries to strike with Penn, but “The Prodigy” looks very patient. He defends every Edgar’s attempt to enter a toe-to-toe war, looking very solid in that fight. Frankie Edgar comes close to Penn, but the Champion shakes him off with good punches and knees. First round ends. Not much action here, and a very tough call. I would give it 10-9 to Frankie Edgar.
Round 2: Frankie Edgar connects with a very good jab in the first seconds of the second round! Edgar is moving very fast around BJ Penn. His cardio will be tested in the later round of that fight. BJ Penn is the one takes the initiative right now. He begins to chase Frankie Edgar, but “The Answer’s” movement looks too much for him. Penn tries very powerful-looking combinations, but fails to connect. Frankie Edgar’s movement and striking is on a very good level in that fight. His coaches are probably pleased with a well-executed gameplan. Frankie Edgar takes down BJ Penn! WOW! BJ Penn is quick to get up, but it was a huge confidence booster for Edgar. Second round ends, and if I had doubts about the first round; this one is surely goes into Frankie Edgar’s pocket. 10-9.
Round 3: BJ Penn’s hands look very heavy in this fight. One good combination from the Champion could end that fight immediately. Frankie Edgar continues to execute his gameplan in a very good way, but he is moving a little bit slower now and looks a little bit less aggressive. BJ Penn is forced to counter-punch in that fight, which is clearly going in the wrong way for the Champion. Frankie Edgar scores a very valuable points with low kicks and a takedown attempts that BJ Penn easily defends. Vicious knee from Frankie Edgar, but he fails to connect. BJ Penn is trying good combos now. Again, his hands are looking very powerful in that fight, but he fails to connect with Fankie Edgar’s face. Third round ends. It is a very tough fight to call, and I must admit that it reminds me of the Machida vs. Shogun showdown. 10-9 Edgar, in my eyes.
Round 4: BJ Penn’s corner asks the Champion to take Frankie Edgar down. BJ Penn is having a very tough time here matching with Frankie Edgar’s mobility and angled striking. Both fighters center the Octagon, doing very little damage in that fight. Not much action in that round, as Frankie Edgar tries high kicks, connects with a few low kicks and stalking BJ Penn around the Octagon. Frankie Edgar is the better fighter here. BJ Penn has to do something. Edgar tries to take BJ Penn down, but his attempt is unsuccessful. BJ Penn jabs Edgar, but it does a very little damage. Edgar pushes BJ Penn to the fence, he tries to take him down but BJ’s heavy hands make him to retreat from his attack immediately. Frankie Edgar is in full control here. Another 10-9 for Frankie Edgar! New Jersey’s “Answer” for “The Prodigy”! 10-9.
Round 5: Frankie Edgar takes BJ Penn down! BJ Penn gets up quickly, but he is in a very deep trouble here! Frankie Edgar is four minutes away from becoming a New UFC Lightweight Champ! High kicks from Edgar. He executes his gameplan so well, moves around, uses his impressive cardio; and believe it or not, BJ Penn has no answer for that kind of approach. Frankie Edgar comes too close to BJ Penn now, all he has to do now is to keep distance from “The Prodigy”. BJ Penn understand that the fight is slipping from his hands right now. Frankie Edgar looks confident, he tries to take BJ Penn down, but The Prodigy defends this attempt.  BJ Penn connects with a good hook! Edgar’s chin is tested, but he is not knocked down! BJ Penn looks exhausted, and Frankie Edgar is so close, thirty seconds away. Frankie Edgar unleashes another combination, as BJ Penn comes closer desperate. The fight ends! Frankie Edgar is the NEW UFC Lightweight Champion, unless the judges have other thoughts about this fight. YES!!! BJ Penn is defeated!!! UNBELIEVABLE! WOW! Frankie Edgar is the new UFC Lightweight Champion!
Anderson Silva def. Demian Maia
via Unanimous Decision
Round 1: The fight is underway. Demian Maia and Anderson Silva are both Southpaws in this fight. Silva is measuring Maia, changing stances. Silva is looking relaxed, and fully ready against Maia, who walks around the Middleweight Champion looking for an opportunity to engage. Vicious low kick by Anderson Silva! Demian Maia is almost knocked down by that kick! Anderson Silva is trying a spinning back kick here, then almost sits down toying with Maia. “The Spider” is in full control here, displaying confidence and supremacy in every aspect of the fight. Sorry, but I don’t know how to describe what Anderson Silva is doing right now. He approaches Demian Maia in a very funny way, the BJJ Champion almost takes him down, but The Spider successfully defends that attempt.  First Round ends, and it is clearly 10-8 for Anderson Silva.
Round 2: Anderson Silva continues his weird Capoeira stance, he is stalking Demian Maia damaging him with a very sharp punches. Demian Maia looks desperate here, he shoots from distance in an attempt to take Anderson Silva down. Anderson Silva is taunting Demian Maia, standing on his place asking Demian Maia to attack him. Maia is tries to hit swift combos on Anderson Silva, but The Spiders dodges his attempts. It looks like Anderson Silva controls the time here, Matrix movie style. Sadly, Demian Maia reminds Thales Leites with his approach right now. He looks scared of Anderson Silva and fails to deliver any damage to The Spider. Anderson Silva fully controls that fight. All Demian Maia did in that round is to fall down, asking Anderson Silva to fight him on the ground. 10-8 for Anderson Silva.
Round 3: Silva is chasing Demian Maia with good low kicks. He tries different stances here: Shotokan, Kapoeira, Tekwondo… you name it.  Demian Maia is heavily bleeding from his nose, looking to counter punch Anderson Silva. Not much action here, Anderson Silva is moving and Demian Maia is moving, but none of them are delivering any damage. Anderson Silva is dancing, and Demian Maia is in trouble! Silva pushes Maia to the fence, but quickly ends his attack. Maia falls on his back seeking to pull guard, but Silva is smiling to him as he walks away. Silva is dancing again, Demian Maia counters Silva with a very good combo to the body, but he falls again and Anderson Silva is literally runs away. The crowd is booing as the third round ends. 10-8 Anderson Silva.
Round 4: This is fight is an exact replica of the Leites-Silva bout. Demian Maia is now chasing Anderson Silva, whose illusiveness is second to none in that fight. Another questionable performance by Anderson Silva. All he does is to play with Demian Maia, damaging him with a stinging jabs from distance. The Champion gives the feeling of a complete supremacy in that fight, but he is still far from finishing Demian Maia. Anderson Silva is moving around the Octagon, as Demian Maia is chasing him. He taunts Demian Maia again, asking him to go stand with him. Fourth round ends. Poor round. 10-9 Silva.
Round 5: Demian Maia’s left eye looks busted up. Final Round is underway, and it looks like Anderson Silva is going for the kill here. Demian Maia is not showing any signs of exhaustion, in fact, he does his best to defeat Anderson Silva. Demian Maia now goes toe-to-toe with Anderson Silva! He gives his best! Demian Maia connects with a solid combinations! The Champion looks untouchable, but Demian Maia is clearly giving his best in that round. Maia’s face is busted up, but the multi-time BJJ Champion is showing a true warrior’s spirit in that round. Demian Maia finally catches Anderson Silva’s leg! Silva is in a deep trouble here… but he escapes. Both fighters are waving with their hands asking for action. Dan Miragliotta stops the fight for a moment, and warns Anderson Silva due to the lack of action. Fifth round ends. Demian Maia won that round in my opinion, but Anderson Silva will probably retain his title for another time. Yes! And still, the UFC Middleweight Champion of the World Anderson Silva! Well, another questionable performance from Anderson Silva. Demian Maia gave his best possible performance in the fourth round, but it was not enough to defeat "The Spider".

Silva was trying his best the whole fight.. he just isn't what people make him out to be, he had damian on his feet for 5 rounds and he couldn't finish him.. and they call him #1 p4p? lol.

This fight proved why Fedor is #1.

He did what he wanted, when he wanted, had time to taunt, punch the floor, punch his opponents leg, put his hands on his waist, kick while taunting and so many other comical things including an air guitar that you can't even remember.

Not only that, but he's already dominated aat 170-185, and 205....THAT'S why they call him #1 p4p. Anyone with any sense knows he could have finished maia, so i guess that just leaves you.

Yeah, he usually listens to his corner, i thought he would take Edgar down but didn't. He seem to have slowed a lot at the 5th round, and Edgar really turned it up on him. I think there's still some conditioning that needs to be done for Bj.

Well he sure did land some good shots, and actually took Bj down a couple of times. Frankie was moving in and out. Bj actually had alot more damage on his face then Frankie did. I say the decision was correct and Frankie earned the win.

What they should do is deduct a point each round if he is not aggressive enough. Imagine if they did that in each round. Could end up tight and he would have to fight.

who would have thought that after 112, we would be talking about how anderson silva ruined it by running away for 3 rounds. Silva needs to vacate the title and stick around in LHW, what is this nonsense about he is going to cut to 170? he is a man who walks around at about 200+ lbs. this was the worst fight i've seen in a long while.

what is the reality of the LW division with Fankie Edgar as the champion. that will have to win "up set of the year" forsure. i imagine that we will see a rematch sooner rather than later, he certainly won the fight but he didn't really shut down BJ.

I repeat - give him to Sonnen at MW and Lesnar at HW (Silva's idea, not mine).

Hey upsets happen to the best of them, lets hope BJ gets a title shot right after this loss like GSP when he lost to Serra

Dude, what's the deal with Lowkick.com? Anton_Gurevich? Do you guys work for the UFC. That commentary read like such shameless spin.

First off, Matt Hughes completely carried Renzo. Could have finished him in round two, but was either showing pity or giving the hometown crowd a gift by not demolishing their hero. And lowkick.com spins it like hughes pulled out a last minute miracle k.o.

Then in Penn vs. Edgar, one judge was insane and scored every round for edgar. So instead of highlighting this insanity, lowkick scores it the same way. After the decision comes in.

Then lowkick tries to make it seem like the city wasn't booing silva out of the building. Did you guys get bought today? Was that why you were offline?

Take you hating somewhere else. Don't sign up today and bash this site or its moderators, We come here to talk mma, and express out opinions of fighters, and fights, not to bash the people that work hard to keep this site current for all of us. Go somewhere else if you are that negative.

AND if u actually read his post it says The crowd are booing silva, and also that it is a questionable performance at the end.

UFC - is sadly beginning to resemble fake wrestling crap, by idealizing some fighters just to sell tickets and PPV. Dana was trying so hard hyping up Silva, even though Silva in reality is far from being the best PFP, not only he has 4 losses, with two by submission, but he was always carefully put against fighters, Dana knew he would beat. And the act with Forest was very pitiful. It was obvious that after such a shitty performance against Leites, Silva needed a KO, and Dana didn't want to take any chances, so Forest played his role. I can't really blame the guy, Dana owns his ass from the beginning. Unfortunately for Dana, Forest can't act, thus it was obvious that the whole thing was fake. Just remember all the battles that Forest fought, and here, he just gave up, in the first round, c'mon. This fight against Maia, was supposed to be an easy KO for Silva, Dana thought - Maia being smaller, thus very unlikely to take down Silva, as a result they had to fight standing, which is really not Maia's forte, however after Maia realized that Silva ain't that great, he started to press, while Silva was really done. If Silva such a great fighter, why didn't Dana put him against a real threat, someone who has a punching power to KO him, maybe Rampage or anyone else, depending on the weight they would have to compete... Don't get me wrong, Silva is a very good fighter, but not even close to being best PFP! People chanted GSP, I think its easy to see who is really the top guy!

That was the worst UFC I have ever seen. I am disgusted. I cant believe they gave Edgar the belt for that performance. Whatever happened to having to definitevly beating the champ to claim the title. That was a boring fight. Ive seen better sparring matches in the gym. Silva did so much showboating. A little is good fun but that was unproffessional.
