True MMA or Cheap Shot
Posted on August 8, 2010, 01:08 AM by KeithFarrellFollowing 4 devasting rounds in Chael Sonnen's favour over Anderson Silva, Sonnen was caught ad was submitted by an unexpected and perfectly executed triangle by Silva.
Silva's victory was greeted by a majority of negativity from the crowd, most likely feeling that Anderson's victory was cheap (which is not true as the sport is mma) .
Do you feel the win was cheap or a true showcase of mma?

he won how is that cheap yeah he got his ass beat for five rounds but he hung in there and got the win. though this does expose one huge hole in anderson game
i wouldent say huge hole. styles make fights. sonnen matches very well with anderson! but the same would happen again. sonnen dont fight anyother way. so its like you got 5 rounds to find that sub. if you can handle the beat down

Lol @Bitch, He Did what no other fighter has been able to do, i think if he wasnt so wore out from the ass beating he was putting on the spider, he wouldnt of got sloppy and wouldnt got caught.. I see a rematch in the future and the out wll be chaels hand being raised in the end..
I think it was a very impressive win, I never said it was cheap but it is obvious the majority of the crowd did.
Anderson Silva is one of my favourite fighters I was just curious what the Lowkick community felt
A dignified and successful win. Chael had a great opportunity to showcase the hole in Andersons game but ended up showing his own.

Anderson Silva retained his title by pulling off a submission after 4 rounds of beating.
It could never be called a cheap shot.
Altho I have to admit that his performance was different from his past.

I have heard a lot of things since, but I havent heard anyone call it "cheap," that would be a bit misguided.

How is it a cheap victory.Sonnen was caught in a submission and tapped out.They are just making a big deal about this because of the crowds reaction.
If this had been a street fight who would have walked away and who would have been on the ground dead or unconscious?
Cheap? If he had of pulled off the triangle in the first minute of the first round, would that have been cheap? It's not even worth discussing. Turing a fight around like that in what looked like a sure decision for Sonnen is what makes this sport so amazing. People that think the sub was cheap should go find another sport to watch. One they can understand.
I don't think its cheap but I was just opening up the discussion for some people who did feel it was chap, however you feel about them.
In my opinion it was a stunning example of martial arts power.
I think the negativity came from what appeared to be a controversial call that Sonnen may not have tapped.
This is a true MMA showcase btw come from behind victories with skillful technique and heart is one of the best parts of the sport.
