Tito Ortiz: I'm going to give my heart and soul in that cage to get my hand raised

Former Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz, who will face Rashad Evans in the UFC 133 main event, reflects on his 14-year mixed martial arts career and discusses the highs and lows that have come along with it.  Once again considered the underdog, Ortiz feels his career has come full circle and says he'll give his heart and soul in the cage to get his hand raised.

"The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" will head into the bout on short notice, but still riding high off of his recent career-saving submission victory over top prospect Ryan Bader. The win was the former champ's first in nearly five years, after having dropped four of his previous five outings. Photo: Scott Hirano

Yeah, I am still not a fan. I haven't liked him since he fought Guy Mezger. But even I am kinda okay if he wins some now and I don't know why yet but maybe it's because the ****y attitude has been measurably replaced by humble reality and a hopeful career.

Heart and soul made cost you four fights and a draw Tito! You have to come in with your back against the wall, treat each fight like its your last chance to prove you are a relative force.

    Tito by uppercut KO.

what a bunch of bandwagon fans!

first everyone hated Tito , he gets 1 win and

all the sudden he has fans and people like him

Tito is the same douche bag , with few fighting skills

he even repeats the same dumb things

i give my heart and soul for that fight

i will let it out all in the cage , im fighting for my fans

im fighting for my family etc etc same stuff over and over

I still don't like Tito and probably never will

and as a fighter his a decent fighter i guess but he will never

ever become Champion , he was Champion in an era of

low quality opponents, but with the caliber of fighters that the UFC

have now in the LHW division i would not even rank

Tito Top 10 inside the UFC.

Whats wrong with eventually coming round to someone? Are you saying its wrong to have a changed opinion of someone?

Im not saying you HAVE to like him but its okay to change your mind about something. Have you not experienced this in real life? You just sound whiny.

Your exerting some unecessary negativity by a standard you probably dont apply in real life. Chill bro lol.

@theWoods you guys aent eventually coming around you just started to like him again after he got his first win in 5 years and showed some kindness because he didnt get cut. People dont change overnight

Rigo you just hit the nail bandwagon is the word

all these guys seem to just change their minds every fight

real fans stick to their idols while bandwagons go for the one

that just won their last fight

Tito won't beat Evans and will never be in the mix again period.

Real fans don't have to have idols. I don't worship any of the guys that fight. I am a fan of the sport and many great fighters will come and go. I have known guys that were ****s to me years ago who now are good friends with me. people can change. I think if you make any man or woman your idol your going to live a life like any soap opera fanatic... pure fanatasy! I suppose if your favourite fighter became Hitler part 2 you wouldn't skip the wagon?

Whatever you may say....Tito was a champion...it does not carry any weight to say that there was an era of low quality opponents because he fought who was put in front of him in the day. In his era he was the champion !! Like any sport though it evolves....and I dont think he evolved with the sport like he should have and still had that ****sure attitude which saw him lose so many bouts...but personally I think cut him some slack ,he is 35 ish now grown up and got rid of the bullshit hangers on...so I hope he beats Rashad and has another run...at least he has taken the fight and trying to show Dana that at least he gives a **** about fighting and his career and not just wanting Anderson Silva money. But win or lose we will all still be talking about him.

Firstly, I'm just talking on behalf of people who are allowed to change their mind about something. Personally, I've never minded Tito.

Iv'e never let him bother me. He chats shit like any other fighter who talks trash and he's had to work very hard to stay relavent for 5 years without a win which is probably not an easy thing to do.

He put in work like every other fighter and kept trying to win and trying to win, and eventually he's got what anyone in his position deserved. A win thats opened some new doors.

You try going five years without carrying out the most important part of your job correctly and see how demoralised you'd be. He rode it out and worked hard for it. For which I'm sure he's relieved and humbled by his situation.

Im not saying I really really like Tito but I can respect a man, regardless of his personality, who puts real effort into a struggling situation and fairly pulls through to the other side to make his situation better.

Don't like Tito, but i fully respect him for his performance against Bader. Incredible win in that sort of position, and to step up on this short notice for a fight of this magnitude makes me respect him that much more.

    REGARDLESS.

Rashad will get the win in my opinion. Simply because he is quicker, his striking is vastly better, and his ju-jitsu is of a better level. The only aspect i do see Tito being better at is his bread and butter, G'N'P, which i think he won't be able to make count as he won't be able to hold Rashad down.

Oh yeah, always hated tito's mouth but he always delivers good fights, now he beat a top contender and steps up to safe the day, how can you not dig that as a fight fan !!!

(After his last comeback to the ufc tito was already a lot more humble !)

oh how the tables have turned. All of a sudden all the what I like to call "under the fridge fans" are coming out. If you hated him before u hate him now. Don't jump on thr bandwagon just because he won a fight. Unless its genuinely because u respect him. I have ALWAYS been a Tito Ortiz fan, and I've gotten so much sh*t for it in the past. Look, he talks trash like any other mma fighter does, but he's earned that right. Losing will make anyone humble, and now that he's seen the highs and lows, he has truly come full circle. I hope as a fan he's able to go on another run for the title!

I would love to see Tito make a run for the title before he retires. That would be coming full circle.
