Tim Sylvia: I can beat 80 percent of the guys in the UFC
Posted on February 14, 2012, 09:47 PM by Trent ReinsmithTim Sylvia has not fought in the UFC since February 2008. In that fight Sylvia lost to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Shortly after the loss Sylvia left the UFC, opting to sign with Adrenaline MMA a promotion that Sylvia opined would allow him to fight more often and would allow him to compete with other promotions.
Adrenaline MMA held four cards in America, with the final card taking place in September 2009. Since leaving the UFC Sylvia has fought nine times, putting together a record of 6-3 with his last fight being a unanimous decision over Andreas Kraniotakes on the November 5, ProElite card.
Sylvia recently took to The Underground and posted a video of himself requesting the help of MMA fans to get him back to the promotion, while at the same time taking shots at some current and former UFC heavyweights.
“So they have to put guys in like (Christian) Morecraft, Joey Beltran, Stefan Struve, the list goes on and on. I don’t understand why any of these guys are in the UFC and to be frankly honest, I think I knock ‘em out in the first round…I can beat 80 percent of the guys in the UFC.”
What do you think LowKick’ers, should Sylvia be brought back to the UFC and if so, who should he fight?

He should retire and work for Mac Donalds....... ow wait....he already is
hmm i say give him a shot why not. did you see when he fought ray mercer now that was entertaining i would pay to see that again
There are people in UFC with worse records. People hated him because really there was no good fighters at HW in the UFC and he was dominant. He was a champ for a min...Bring him back and see what happens.
I say why not ZUFFA has less talented HW under their umbrella, give him a chance, man just wants to make some money.
well he would beat at least 60% of the guys in the UFC if you count from the Middleweight division to Bantamweight
i mean hes 6'8" 280lbs i guess he would beat at least half the roster in the UFC but as far as the Heavyweight Division i say he can beat maybe 70% of them most by Decisions .
But no way he would beat any Top 10 Heavyweight now with the Strikeforce HW's coming to the UFC.
I think UFC's public image is more at fault than any one specific owner.
The Timmy downward spiral was a bit too much to look past.
Maybe 80% of the bantamweights.
Lol would love to see him get Fedor'ed by Dominic Cruz or Renan Barao
Funny that Tim says he could beat 80% of the guys in the UFC. He is 6-3 since leaving UFC. If my math is right thats 66%. He's 66% fighting sub par talent and he hasn't looked impressive. Its sad to see him beg for his job back or actually trying to get his fans to beg for him.
i'd not actually thought about cruz vs barao. ****ING HELL! thats a fight. at least one good thing came from reading this apart from confirming tim has completely lost the plot.
i think he was talking about eating contest
hahahahaha................just no
I have been seeing all the tweets people have been sending to Tim and UFC asking to get him back in the UFC and it makes me wonder if any of them have seen his last fights? He has won 6 of last 7 fights but against poor comp and he looks bad. In his loss to Wagner his knees looked like they were fuzed together and he is way to heavy to be competitive in UFC. Also Lorenzo has been quoted as saying NEVER when asked if there was chance that Tim could make it back to the UFC. So stop looking for a retweet and stop saying he could beat Struve,Schaub,Mitrione,Morecraft hell anyone in UFC would give Tim big problems at this stage in his career.
Why is he talking? His sucked already in his prime IMO, this is 5 years ago or something... He even wouldnt beat a battamweight nowaday..
I dont think so Tim
I wonder if anyone would notice that Home Improvement quote, without me pointing it out first.
aaand Bozo Sapp and Bozo the clown will ko you in 10 sec FLAT Tiiimber!!!
So what youre saying Tim is that even if your math is somehow right that you would lose to the best 20% right?
Thats why you lost the belt and nobody really cares to get you back in it.
If he does come back put him against another never gonna win the belt guy like Big Country and hope for someone to get KO'd
If Tim is the Tim I saw versus Pudzian;
Pat Barry: would be a tough matchup but he can win
Rob Broughton:easy win for Tim
Travis Browne:oh yeah believe it or mot this overrated HW will lose via ground and pound.Again I pick easy win for Tim
Jon-Olav Einemo:Tim wins
Dave Herman:Tim wins
Cheick Kongo:Tough matchup I would like to see that after a couple of wins in a row. This is 50%
Stipe Miocic:Tim wins
Frank Mir won him when Tim was at his best and but I would like to see this one after a hypothetical 4 in a row W
Mat Mitrione:I like Mat but he is overrated such as Browne.Tim would win this one also.
Christian Morecraft:Tough one but Tim wins again
Roy Nelson:The edge goes to Nelson but Tim has serious chances
Mike Russow:That is a 50% like Kongo. If it goes to distance Mike will get the decision if not Tim will ko him.
Brendan Schaub:I never liked Brendan, but he is athletic.I think Tim has a small edge on this one.
Stefan Struve:Win easily for Tim
forgot Joey Beltran:That would be easy for Tim
Beltran has been released
Now he would surely lose to:
Fabricio Werdum
Cain Velasquez
Ben Rothwell
Alistair Overeeem
Minotauro Nogueira
Lavar Johnson
Mark Hunt
Gabriel Gonzaga
Junior Dos Santos
Shane Carwin
Frank Mir as well. Roy Nelson would probably beat him too.
vengod in Tims prime, i would agree with you. But today he would beat nothing..
I like watching Tim fight.I say the ufc is expanding more and more with th HW division. And there is a legend adn ex champ over there still active.Give him some respect and sign him.Give him Einemo first for example...
If not he should sign with one fc.I want to believe that this promotion will be the next pride...There he could fight somebody like Thompson. If Thompson signs there of course.
There will never be another Pride. Zuffa has almost all of the top talent. As much as I wish Pride was still around, sadly, those days are gone.
Yeah but what happens if some other promotion starts to pay more?
Now days he has a tough enough fight getting his pants buttoned.
.....................................................Wait a minute I can't stop laughing long enough to type anything.............................................
This dude is trying to get paid. And "love to workout" my ass! He's looked in terrible shape in a few of his last fights.
I think you mean all of his fights. Its just been worse lately.
hes gonna shit his pants again if he goes up againts just 1%
Why ...why...........whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Tim please c'mon.Where the he@# is your dignity. If u want to get back in the UFC try calling DW and ask him if u can S#$k hid D!(k.
I'm not a fan of his but I say give Tim Silva a chance!
He has had some bad fights but he is also tough enough to take on and most likely beat the low and mid-tier Heavy Weights in the UFC. We can like or dislike him all we want but put Tim up against the gate keepers and let's have a chance to see what happens. As Dana White likes to say, it's why there is a fight. If Tim wins he gets to stay and fight his way up the ranks just like others guys getting their chance.
My message to Dana White, regardless of how weak the HW division once was, Tim Silva is a two-time former UFC Champion and deserves at least some basic respect by the UFC that this chance would represent.
LOL... I mean Tim Sylvia.... Sorry Tim, I have been talking and writing about the countless Silva's in the UFC too much.
He could probably hang with the bottom and mid tier, why not?
Tim doesnt deserve MY money.
i wouldnt mind seeing him back in the ufc just to see what he can do but 80 percent of the guys in there would kick his ass he wants a list of people that would beat him well here you go...JDS, alistair, velasquez, big country, check kongo, pat barry, shane carwin, big foot silva, gab gonzaga, frank mir, fabricio werdum, big nog, brendan schaub, matt mitrione, stipe miocic...anyways it would have been more realistic if he said he could beat 20% of the ufc heavywieghts
even if it was true...80% ain't enough.
