Three fights added to UFC on Fuel TV 4: Munoz vs. WeidmanPosted on May 13, 2012, 03:59 PM by Mike Drahota
Three additional bouts were added to the UFC on Fuel TV 4 event this summer. Featuring a main event of Mark Munoz vs. Chris Weidman, the card is now starting to take shape. In what promises to be an exciting show from the HP Pavilion in San Joe, CA, the previously announced Light Heavyweight scrap of Brandon Vera versus James Te Huna will serve as the co-main event. Two Bantamweight fights were announced, with TUF veteran T.J. Dillashaw will face Vaughan Lee, while Raphael Assuncao will fight Issei Tamura. Finally Josh Ferguson will battle Chris Cariaso in the new flyweight class. Anthony Njokuani vs. Paul Taylor will also be on the card.
Munoz versus Weidman will have future title implications at Middleweight most likely. Both fighters are excellent wrestlers who have been nearly impossible to beat as of late. Munoz was scheduled to face Chael Sonnen in January at UFC on Fox 2, but unfortunately had to undergo elbow surgery. Now he will face a surging prospect in Weidman, who bested Damian Maia at that exact card. Both fighters looked sluggish in that match, Weidman perhaps attributed to a massive weight cut on short notice. The edge in experience obviously goes to Munoz in this fight, but Weidman is brimming with confidence, having recently put his sights on Anderson Silva. Believing he can beat the long-standing Middleweight champion, a victory over Mark Munoz will go a long way towards accomplishing that goal.
There is a high level of talent scheduled for this card, and while none of the names would sell a pay-per-view on their own, many of the young fighters here will be future stars. Two more fights are yet to be announced, so stayed tuned to Lowkick.com for more developments on UFC on Fuel TV 4.
