Thiago Alves announces fight against Martin Kampmann

It seems as if Thiago Alves may know something that Martin Kampmann does not, namely that the two will be fighting on March 3.
Alves, who defeated Papy Abedi via first round submission at UFC 138, spoke to Tatame.com about the fight with Kampmann, saying, “It was the fight I asked and I know UFC fans will love it. He has just defeated Rick Story, who had beat me before, so it’s a good fight for me. He’ll go for the trade of punches, he’ll come for it, so it’s a fight on which the styles really combine.”
Kampmann, coming off a win over Rick Story at UFC 139, when contacted by MMASucka.com had the following response about the alleged upcoming fight, “Lol, I guess they forgot to ask me. Honestly i have heard nothing from the ufc!”
What do you think LowKick’ers? First, does this fight make sense and second, if it does, who comes out with the win?

would be a good fight, I'd say Alves takes it by Decision
Ya possible FOTN candidate but I'll go with Alves too, hes quicker so I think he'll just outstrike Martin for 3 rounds....man idk if anyone in the UFC has faced tougher competition than Kampmann, hes always fights beasts
The two best strikers in the welterweight division IMO. Will be a brawl for sure ;)
I believe Alves will be able to take the decision. Kampmann is a tough fighters, as is Alves.
apparently its gonna be UFC on FX 2 main event and be aired in Australia six days after UFC 144 in Japan, what a joke 2 PPVs and we down grade to a Fight Night card after record breaking sell outs smart move..
kampmann is NOT one of the top 2 strikers in the welterweight division... but should be a good fight. i am leaning toward kampmann with this one with his wrestling improving alot. he evan took down story who outwrestled alves.
