Thiago Alves and Mike Dolce shocked by Alves missing weight on first try

When Thiago Alves stepped onto the scale on Friday for his UFC 138 weigh-in the scale read 172 after he dropped his shorts, one pound over the allowable limit for his welterweight bout against Papy Abedi. For those tracking the weigh-ins via the internet, the news was somewhat shocking considering that Alves had missed weight in two of his last six fights and was riding a record of 1-3 in his last four fights.
No one was more surprised by Alves missing weight on his first try than Mike Dolce, of The Dolce Diet fame, who was working with Alves for the fight, “We had four different scales. Every scale had him between [1]69 [pounds] and [1]71 [pounds]. We were happy. It was an easy weight cut, he felt fine, high energy, bouncing around. We got to the weigh-ins and he was [1]72.3 [pounds] with his shorts on. He took off his shorts and he was [1]72 [pounds] on the dot. We were shocked, but hey, no problem. We walked off the scale, we went backstage, there was a sauna there, he sat in the sauna for a few minutes, then he took a pee, then we went back out and made 171 [pounds]. It was literally that simple." – for more see MMAFighting.com

I gotta say...there are times i've had a harder time with predictions.
I feel for Alves. Ever since the brain embolism(clot) hehas never been the same guy. The prospect of death and taking your livelihood away will mess with your head. He was a beast and a raw talent, but too much tweeking has gone on recently to fix things. Alves needs to decide for himself weather this is really for him after the scare. I wish him all the best of luck. I enjoy watching him perform.
I look forward to reading your post about brock lesnar
I don't really agree, he has always struggled agaisn't wrestlers and when in a striking match he put on such a clinic in how you beat someone half to death without taking any dmg yourself.
how about he was an exciting and dangerous striker but we never saw wrestling or jj, and still now we still see a dangerous and exciting striker but nothing else. forget using his brain issue as an excuse. If anyone was to face him, the game plan is simple, take him down, take him out of his comfort zone. You can plan into his hands like lylte did, but lytle can take a shot and bang.
same old same old, this guys been in the UFC for a long time no excuse for it.
