The Truth behind Todd Duffee's release is finally revealed
Posted on September 30, 2010, 06:19 AM by griffinAfter many weeks of speculation and rumors as to why UFC heavyweight prospect Todd Duffee was released, the truth finally comes out. Travis from MMAscrapsradio got the inside scoop from a solid source
"Original fight (before Russow) was McSweeny but Duffee turned it down for a "bigger named opponent" He fights and losses, but that isn't that big of a deal (it ends up being the way UFC can release him, but whatever) He accepts fight with Madsen, but then pulls out after mentioning that he needed time to do a movie. Apparently after that, he then said he was injured. UFC asked for paperwork from his doctor and it was sent, so he was covered there. He was given the go ahead to do the movie He tweeted some stuff about being broke and made comments about needing money. The final straw was when he talked a bunch of crap about the UFC to one of the UFC employee's wives and Dana found out about it. That sealed the deal. Dana ordered him fired."
In my eyes that sounds like a good reason to release someone but it doesnt take away from the fact that Duffee is one of the hottest rising stars in MMA. He currently holds a solid record of 6-1 with his only loss coming to the hands of Mike Russow who after being dominated for two rounds came in with a right hand out of nowhere and knocked him out. Duffee also holds the fastest KO record in the UFC. Look out For Strikeforce to try and add this kid to their already stacked Heavyweight division

You'd think at this point in the game, guys who make it to the UFC would know better. If you are a nobody (and Dufee still is, relatively speaking) KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND CLIMB THE LADDER. Your last name isnt Jackson or Penn. Those can can talk $hit about Dana and get away with it because they've been in the sport a long time and they still put butts in seats. Dufee comes across as some spoiled jock with a heavy weight sense of entitlement. Hopefully he gets a bit humbled by this experience and continues to achieve his full potential as an athlete. What the hell is he doing movies for already anyway? The non-fan barely knows who Randy Couture when his name pops up in the credits and he's a legend of MMA. One thing at a time, ya bozo.
The truth is that Duffee is an immature douchebag. With that attitude he will never see the UFC again.
DW should have just ripped him a new asshole and said if you dont shape up and act like a man then your gone....if DW never gave him a warning about his actions then he had no way of knoing that his words were killing his career. But still if he wants to be a dumbass, its his dec.
Nice press release.
Duffee needs to play the game at first before talking sh!t. The hype got to his head and Danan showed him how much business pull the ufc has
Yeah, I called this from the beginning. It was about fighters putting movies before MMA. He sent a big message to the other fighters who were considering taking time off to do movies.
Are we calling Strikeforce's heavyweight division 'stacked' now?
