The King of Trash Talk: Chael Sonnen declared victorious by Jim Rome in 2012 Smackoff

Appearing on The Jim Rome Show, Sonnen participated in Rome's annual Smackoff against five other ranters, winning the competition with his endless creative smack talk.
However, Sonnen did not win the contest by utilizing his go-to targets of Anderson Silva and Brazil, in fact he did not mention them at all. Instead he went to the well and created a new rant, touching on many subjects in the sports world. Obviously Chael P. Sonnen has been highly noted for his trash-talking abilities, now it appears he is taking his talents to the mainstream.
Chael Sonnen's victory was not without controversy, however. Many fans cried foul over Sonnen's win, claiming that Rome gave him the victory by default because he is a celebrity. It is always hard to count Sonnen out, whether it be in a fight or in the smack-talk arena. Sonnen was the winner in a great match according to Rome himself, who responded via Twitter.com:
Some of you: "Fix was in. Rome wanted a celebrity to win." Right. Jay Mohr has never won. Jim Harbaugh was hammered for his appearance.

Chael Sonnen is expanding his exposure before his historic rematch with Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in Las Vegas. Will this be the height of his popularity or will it continue with him as the UFC Middleweight champion?

An alternative; Building the reality of your audience - it's brilliant the way his never ending dialogue has turned fan attention away from the fact that his near win was undoubtably fuelled by steroids... I disliked him after that, but now simply enjoy his tom foolery.
I've been listening to Jim Rome & the smack off for years & i have to admit that Chael was GOOD but IMO it was rigged due to the fact that 1) Jim Rome loves Chael 2) Jim Rome has NEVER EVER brought up the fact that Chael was on roids during UFC117, he only acknowledge that Chael talks smack &backs; it up. 3) When a contestant named Israeld came on towards the end after Chaels rant & started exposing him for being a cheat & a crook, Rome ended his call....Cold Blooded i had a feeling that they were going to give it to Sonnen....but i due give him props for finally winning something.
When Chael said shit like The NBA used to be fantastic but it turned to what player can knock up a Kardashian! Whatever he said had me roll'n. I was shocked he left Silva out of it.
