If youre a long time MMA fan, you probably know the Chute Boxe Academy, one of the first big MMA teams who "produced" great Brazilian MMA Champions such as Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva and Shogun Rua. Known for an exciting, brawling style complete with lethal knees and leaping kicks, the Chute Boxe fighters "ruled" MMA when it came to striking, specially during the Pride FC dynasty. Since the "fall" of Pride and the proliferation of MMA, many fighters began to form theire own teams and establish theire own gyms and academies. Many fighters left Shute Boxe and the academy name was forgotten from the MMA picture.

A new era began when two times ADCC Champion Fabricio Werdum joined the team to develop the striking aspect of his game. His recent victory over Fedor Emelianenko brought the team name back to the headlines. This spot was cemented by the dominant female Strikeforce World Champion Cristiane Cyborg Santos, another dangerous fighter hailing from the academy!

With its name back on top of the MMA picture, the Chute Box Academy will present us with two new fighters making theire first apearances in the UFC. They are both devastating strikers that promise to make theire day view with a blast!

At UFC 120 The Chute Boxe trained knockout artist Vinicius “Spartan” Kappke will collide with UK favorite Rob “The Bear” Broughton in a heavyweight showdown between UFC first-timers. "The Spartan" sports a record of 5-1 with every one of his victories being finished via KO or TKO, while the more experienced Rob Broughton holds a career record of 14-5-1 and a reputation as a relentless brawler. On a recent interview Vinicius said that although he respects Rob and acknowledges he his a experienced and dangerous fighter, he plans to to follow his team name and "Chute" (kick) his opponent of the ring!

Maiquel "Big Rig" Falcão is a veteran of the sport holding an impressive record of 25-3 with 21 KO/TKO victories. This 6 foot Brazilian wrecking machine can fight both in Midleweight and Light Heavyweight will make his debut at UFC 123 against the dangerous striker Gerald Harris (17-2) in a match up that promises to be a slug fest. When that cage door gets shut, dont blink!

Broughton is an excellent choice. He loves a good tear up, has a good chin and is alot fitter than his physique suggests. He has a great jab too, so this could well be a good ol' stand and bang.
