TUF 15 Finale: Martin Kampmann TKO's Jake Ellenberger
Posted on June 1, 2012, 10:58 PM by Anton GurevichOnce again, Martin "The Hitman" Kampmann proved he's one of the best comeback fighters in the UFC. The Dane TKO'd Jake Ellenberger in Round 2, and now finds himself in line for a shot at the UFC Welterweight title.
Ellenberger was a more aggressive fighter inside the Octagon, hurting Martin Kampmann on several occasions. In Round 1, The Juggernaut connected with a powerful left hook that put Kampmann on his back. Ellenberger followed with a vicious ground and pound looking to finish the fight, but Martin Kampmann managed to survive the onslaught. From there, Ellenberger and Kampmann showed very little action, but for some odd reason, the referee Steve Mazzagatti let the fight continue on the ground.
Round 2 delivered more of the same from Jake Ellenberger. Kampmann was able to connect with one straight punch, But Ellenberger responded with a heavy combination that bloodied up The Hitman. Kampmann was out on his feet, but once again, Ellenberger lacked the finishing touch in this fight. In another exchange, Kampmann connected with a good right hand, followed by a series of knees that KO'd Ellenberger, and cut his six-fight streak in the UFC.
Kampmann is now 20-5 in the UFC, currently enjoying a three-fight winning streak, with victories over Rick Story, Thiago Alves, and now Jake Ellenberger. UFC on Fuel TV commentator Jon Anik announced that Martin Kampmann will be fighting Johny Hendricks in his next fight, with a winner earning his shot at the UFC Welterweight title.

It was a good fight, Martin did in fact won from behind, but i do not think he will get the call for a title. I feel that Dana thought that he would lose. But Martin vs Condit makes sense to me.
Very nice i had a feeling Kampmann was going to when then changed my mind when he got rocked. Shudnt of doubted him that was a good stopage my mazagati jake hit the floor and was holding his face cleary out of it and not defending, while when kampmann got rocked he was looking to tie jake up right away.
Hendricks vs Kampmann will be awesome.
I wish condit wud stop being such a puss and take a fight GSP will be on the shelf for a while
I think it was a fair stoppage but Mazzagatti poves himself to be a horrible inconsistent ref once again, if he stopped the fight on that knockdown then Jake's knockdown in the first definitely deserved the same stoppage - Kampmann looked completely out and I think smacking his head of the cage might of brought him back.
yeah i hear you but if you watch the replay jake was out of it when he hit the ground and it took him a couple minutes to collect himself where when martin got rocked he was immediatly defending himself. Jake went limp when he hit the ground it was clear he was out.
The thing MMA fans need to learn is that a fighter shudnt have to take six or seven more punches after being knocked out its bad for the image and longevity of the fighters and the sport.
He was not out...
Kampmann,that is
I'm a reasonable guy but i do not understand the "weaks"
it was a nice fight ,but im super disapointed by the result. Jake should have won. Martin gets a lot lucky those days. Against thiago alves and now ellenberger.
Well, good for him, maybe he will also get lucky angainst condit or gsp
If he should've won, why did kampmann win. Your disappointed I get it. But that remark was idiot
I hear what your saying man but its not danas' call and there's a lot of people at 170 looking for that shot. If you look at it from a slightly different perspective the 170 devision looks a lot like the 155. You have a lot of the guys proving their worth but the belt isn't going anywhere, either do to rematches, injuries, failed drug tests or controversial decisions. Its hard to determine a number one contender or an actual champ while the champ is out and you have people waiting for a title shot on top of the debatable contenders losing fights to other contenders as well as up an comers (Fitch vs Hendricks) is a good example. Maybe its your wording or maybe its just to hard to call but with people its a lot like the judging in MMA, your not really sure what there looking at and its not set in stone.lol
I wouldn't worry about getting "weaked", there's no logic to it sometimes, except maybe trolls who get off on it.
Many "weaks" are a result of unhappy people dishing out there own short comings.
OH YEAH !!! That's the stuff.
I've "weaked" many lowkickers over the years, but this one was particularly arousing. I actually queefed out my wiener.
I was wondering what that was, thought I was at Long John Silver's for a second there. 8O
Really nice fight! That was a nice knockout :D
Let him fight Condit while we wait on GSP. These two had a war the last time out!
That is a great rematch.
However, I think Condit will be happy sitting on the sidelines and not risking his title shot. Having Condit next in line, makes it hard for people to overlook kampmann considering he beat him.
Kampman is the most underrated fighter ever. I really thought that he is the underdog... But now his record is perfect.
I actually said basically the same thing as this just before the fight, I believe he won the shields fight (sum will disagree) but he defo won the sanchez fight, if that fight would have been judged properly i reckon dana would have to push for the fight against conduit....that would be epic, epicer than epic. His record is pretty impressive now, 1 more fight and then a title shot Kampmann
condit vs kampmann would be A very interesting fight..kampmann vs GSP not so much
We already know what will happen to Martin. Condit will run around the cage to avoid a takedown and finish, and pick his shots like a mosquito.
Nahhh
Martin vs Hendricks next? ;D
Solid card. Loved seeing the 2 wrestlers get picked apart in the first 2 fights. Always more entertaining than watching a striker get held on his back with no action.
Kampmann had one hell of a come back KO. Ellenburger is strong guy thought Id still love to see them both fight GSP sooner than later. Hope when GSP is healthy he's fighting more than 2 measly fights a year.
Its good to see a BJJ practitioner who can KO you with knees.
All i have to say, is that Kampmann gets the best post fight shots ever, usually always covered in blood, and just screaming at the cameras.
Kampmann is a great fighter and has had some great come back performances lately but that isn't the kind of performance you can sue against GSP, someone who never gets tired or barely makes mistakes.
Kampmann is a interesting fight against almost anyone at WW except GSP IMO.
If I were in Martins corner I think I would Ko him about ten minutes before the fight. He always fights better after getting wobbled.
