TUF 13 Finale: Kingsbury edges Maldonado 29-28
Posted on June 4, 2011, 09:27 PM by Anton GurevichKyle Kingsbury continued his winning streak inside the Octagon, this time defeating the Brazilian heavy-hitter Fabio Maldonado via a Unanimous Decision.
Kingsbury had a strong opening, landing a series of bruta knees and leg kicks that hurt Maldonado. But the Brazilian had a plan of his own. Maldonado responded with vicious punches to the body, and simple, but still perfect 1-2 punch combos. Maldonado's striking continued to hurt Kingsbury in Rounds 2 and 3, but TUF 8 contestant managed to stay busy, and continued to score points, mostly thanks to a successful takedowns attempts.
In the end, all judges scored the bout 29-28 in favor of Kyle Kingsbury, but I wouldn't be surprised if this decision went the other way. Despite losing to Kingsbury, Maldonado proved he's a serious threat for any fighter in the UFC 205 division. He lacks the necessary physique to go toe-to-toe with muscle balls like Kingsbury, as a move down to Middleweight could be a reasonable decision for the Brazilian.

Bull-Sh*t Fabio wasn't the one who looked like rocky dennis
this fight would be so hard to judge, i am bias towards Kingsbury just cause we went to school together, but i thought Maldonaldo won the 1st and 3rd round, i havent rewatched it yet
Maldonado won the fight in my eyes
Just because Kingsbury eye flared up didn't mean he lost, in my opinion staying active and in there with 1 eye makes his performance even better!
Anybody else notice he was super fresh and looked great at the start but as soon as he escaped the guillotine he changed?
if maldonado woulda won. i would be 1st place on lowpick. too bad though i know this guy is gonna get his big break sometime soon by ko-ing some LHW beast
at first i was leading towards maldando, but i looked at the strikes n they were basically even. the reason kyle won was the takedowns. he took him down almost art will
