A Lightweight clash between octagon veteran Spencer Fisher and Thiago Tavares is currently in the works for UFC: Rio.

The bout was first reported by Portal do Vale Tudo and sources close to the development have since confirmed that verbal agreements are in place.

One of many Brazil natives expected to appear on the card, Tavares (15-4-1) will look to bounce back from a knockout loss against WEC stand-out Shane Roller at last month's UFC on Versus 3 event in Louisville, Kentucky.  The defeat snapped a three-fight unbeaten streak, which included victories over Pat Audinwood and Manny Gamburyan, as well as a draw against Nik Lentz.

Fisher (24-7), meanwhile, will come into the bout with a 1-3 mark in his last four.  After back-to-back defeats against Joe Stevenson and Dennis Siver, "The King" avoided the dreaded three-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision victory over Curt Warburton at UFC 120, but dropped a decision against Ross Pearson this past February.

UFC: Rio is set to take place August 27th from the the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  The landmark card will be headlined by a Middleweight title fight between division Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva and challenger Yushin "Thunder" Okami and will mark the promotion's first trip back to Brazil since 1998.

Fisher should be able to finish Tavares in his fight if he keeps it standing.

But Tavares could outgrapple Fisher for 3 rounds, but i doubt it, i see Tavares being cut if he gets finished, if its a close decision they will both stay around probably.
