Shawn Tompkins says Vitor Belfort "isn't loyal to anybody"

"Well, you know, Vitor has done this before. Vitor sometimes, he gets a little clouded in his head. It’s not that he brought in Mike Tyson or anything like that. Vitor just wanders, you know, and he goes where, you know, what’s happening, what’s famous, what’s popular and he’ll go over there and Mike Tyson isn’t teaching him anything. Neither is the other eight gyms that he’s training at. Just because he’s over at Couture’s and not with me doesn’t mean he’s with Couture’s. Vitor isn’t loyal to anybody. We’ve seen it before.

I hope for the best for him, but you know for a guy who told me about respect, loyalty, and God and all this stuff for so many years, he sure did prove the opposite. So, we’ll see. Best of luck to him. Best of luck to Anderson, as well." - The Fight Show with Mauro Ranallo

Well-known kickboxing trainer Shawn Tompkins shared his thoughts about Vitor Belfort's tendency to switch between training camps. Tompkins prepared Belfort for his recent victories over Terry Martin, Matt Lindland and Rich Franklin, but the Brazilian decided to part-ways with the coach and move to the rival Xtreme Couture Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vitor Belfort will look to prove he made the right choice, facing the toughest challenge of his career against Anderson "The Spider" Silva in a fight that will headline UFC 126 on February 5th.

My thoughts exactly, Shawn sees Randy"s gym continueing to excel and going big and Shawn left for greener pastures....maybe it wasnt so green and hes a little butt hurt. Afraid if Vitor beats Silva he wont be in the spotlight.

Vitor is just trying to become as good as he can and sometimes changing gyms helps with that...seems to me Tompkins is just bitter that Vitor won't train with him exclusively

Something tells me that Vitor is going to be more interested in taking the fight to the ground more than some of us may think.

My pick is AS BUT if Vitor is going to win I think the ground is where he does it. He was once well known for his ground game and if he has better BJJ than AS and decent wrestling he might win. I think you may be right about the plan.

Yeah whats wrong with learning new stuff from other sources. Vitor probably wants to work on his wrestling, cling game with Couture. Smart.

i think he would be stupid not to A silvas takedown D isnt that great and vitor has better bjj than him. plus if anderson is afraid of getting taken down it will be that much easier to catch him with a big shot
