Ryan Bader wins a Unanimous Decision against Rogerio Nogueira
Posted on September 25, 2010, 11:22 PM by Anton GurevichThe Ultimate Fighter 8 winner Ryan "Darth" Bader stayed undefeated, scoring a valuable victory against the veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Bader's superior wrestling skills were the difference in the match-up, as the unbeaten prospect managed to take down Nogueira on several occasions. Little Nog responded with striking combinations that troubled Bader, but the Arizona-native managed to survive and force the fight to the decision. In the third round, Bader and Nogueira exchanged blows, but neither man was able to finish the fight.
Ryan Bader won a clean 30-27 Unanimous Decision, improving his record to 12-0. Bader will now square off against Jon Jones, in what could determine the identity of the next UFC Light Heavyweight Title challenger.

wow this guy is impressive. I think he can beat jones too in a hard fight but decision win
thats so funny enson, so on his performance against jardine and nog you think he will beat jones. bader is over rated. his stand up is weak and technically not good. he might have power but he cant box for shit. He is strong and a good wrestler but he will not beat jones, or any of the good light heavy weights.
@ck1
i do think that jones will beat bader but i wouldnt say that bader ''can't box for shit''. with 5 knockout wins i think he does have something right in the techneque. your comment here is full of contadictions '' his stand up is weak and technically not good. he might have power but he cant box for shit.'' ? that just doenst make sence.
a win over nog does put him up inside the top 10 lightheavy weights in the world though. i dont see how you could name 10 fighters in the division that are better then him
what doesnt make sense. his stand up is weak and technically not good. thats saying the same thing. he cant box for shit is also saying the same thing, 4th point,he might have power. so just cos i say he might have power, how does that contradict all of the above comments. watch the way he finishes in jardine, power? yes, technical? no, good boxing?no. look at the nog fight. was his stand up weak?yes, did he box well? no. is he techinally good with it? no. find someone who says that he was good at all those things against nog. you wont.
if somebody has power they still need techneque to put it to good use.
i know this from kickboxing. you can have all the power in the world but with no techneque its useless. a pro fighter would get 5 (t)kos with terrible techneque.
also the ko of jardine was a strong hook to the jaw, not just a flail of the arms.
im not defending bader and i do feel that jones will get the finish in the first of 2nd round
@rflynn.i have to come back to you cos i just watched the fight again and baders stand up isnt just weak, its terrible. i could count on 1 hand the amount of times he hit nog in rounds 1+2 combined.!! he kept throwing his big right but hitting air. That fight shouldnt even have been called 30-27 based on the take downs alone cos some many elments make up the scoring and im sure lots of people will agree on that aswell. I' ll go as far as saying that if he fights jones, jones will finish him within the 1st round. and last point, his 5 ko's. Are they ko's or tko's and look at the people he was fighting?
2 kos 3 tkos
@rflynn. where are you from?
@rflynn. im not trying to be funny. im seriously asking, where are you from?
@enson. take your bader t-shirt off and watch that fight again. average fighter.
Bader let me down! i really dont think he should have won the fight!
but now hes going to Fight Jon Jones im not sure if thats a reward or a punishment
I agree with you. It seems more like a punishment IMO...Bader looked really slow tonight.
I knew Bader would be good enough to win, but not good enough to finish the fight. Jon Jones will manhandle this bitch.
although not a30-27 fight it was still a pretty straight forward victory lil nog was only ever really in the fight for about four minutes. that being said i think bader still needs a little more polishing before he fights top competition.(and no i dont define lil nog as top competition)
Bader only had one significant moment at the end of the first. Nog rocked Bader at least once and landed the majority of the significant blows. Nog got robbed.
The UFC benefits American wrestlers way too much in the scoring system. I thought that Bade won the first round no question, but in the second and third rounds he did barely any damage, nog was taggin him constantly, Bader got a few take downs but did NO damage at all except for in the 1st, Nog stuffed a ton of takedowns.. I think that the takedown is over scored.. you should need to do damage on the ground to get the points... this is the ultimate fighting championship, not the ultimate wrestling championship... Wrestlers recieve an advantage because the takedown scores more points than anything else, even if a guy smacks the wrestler round for the whole round but the wrsetler gets the td he can nulify all the damage done for the round..
Couldn't agree more, there needs to be changes in the rules, that's too unfair... In my opinion, Bader looked slow and got exposed, his stand up looked pretty weak... only because he took lil nog down two or three times, lil nog stood right back up and no damage whatsoever was done ! Lil Nog looked better than Bader in this fight... But anyway, he's in for some of the most brutal elbows ever with Bones Jones...
Yup.
so true.
Ye - unless its a big slam it shouldnt be scored - the damage inflicted after the takedown is what judges should look for. Either the judging criteria is very vaguely defined or it was written by Hulk Hogan. You can hurt a guy more, with one punch to the head than taking a guy down 20 times in a row. The way they are going they will start scoring clinches and spooning above striking also.
ya, lil nog won that fight
I was sure this would be a split decision. Theres no way Bader won all 3 rounds
Bader clearly won this fight, people need to accept that in the judges eyes takedowns and dominant wrestling are enough to earn the nod.
Takedowns are worth something but strikes, sub attempts, sweeps and overall damage inflicted should be worth just as much. i think judges need to learn more about mma. Takedowns and top position are over valued by most judges when there are so many other things that can be more important
