"I'm very sorry for the accusations I made. Nate Marquardt did not cheat in any way, and I'm very sorry to him and his team for my actions in the fight.I congratulate Nate on his win. I learned another lesson for my career in the fight, and I apologize to Nate, his team and the UFC for any issues I contributed to." - MMAJunkie.com

UFC Middleweight contender Rousimar Palhares issued an apology to Nate Marquardt and his camp members, for the controversial greasing accusations at the main event of UFN 22 in Austin, Texas. Touqinho is now 4-2 in his Ultimate Fighting Championship campaign, losing only to Dan Henderson (UFC 88) and Nate Marquardt. As for Nate "The Great", Greg Jackson's product stated at the post-fight press conference: ""I was very excited for the win, but that kind of took a little bit of it out of it for me", expressing his disappointment from being involved in such a controversy.

It looks actually pretty funny when you watch the replay over and over again. What the hell was he trying to accomplish with this pointing to Nates leg in the middle of the action ? Like he took his personal little timeout being like " ha! Look guys his legs they are all greas.....SMASH

Yeah, pity the fight ended early and because of that silly mistake. We could see it was going to be a war...

    @ Toronto

    The TKO is never unfortunate.

...and of a leg breaker, none-the-less.

Seems strange fighters of today take their eye off the ball when the other guy is trying to smash them. You can always raise issue with the ref between rounds so no need to stop mid fight.

palhares is the only dumbasses. the main rule in the cage is to "protect yourself at all times" and since he cant do that, im glad he lost. what he thought this was, practice? training? no.

Any fighter knows YOU DO NOT LOOK AWAY FROM YOUR OPPONENT. Palhares got exactly what he deserved, a beating. What goes around, comes around.

Palhares is a dirtty mother focker. Like his last fight when he broke that guy's leg. Then he acted like he did'nt feel the tap (on his own leg) or did'nt notice the refferee desperately trying to get him to release the heel hook. That piece of s hit deserved much much worse, fock your mother Palhares! La puta que lo pario

immediately after the accusation of “greasing” the ref and the commission inspected nate. they wiped his leg down with a paper towel and waited for it to dry. if it was still moist, greasy, or somewhat transparent then grease was applied. however the paper towel dried with no problem indicating that it was merely sweat…
