Anderson Silva confirmed in his interview to Sherdog.com that he would fight Sugar Rashad Evans, if the UFC decided to schedule him in a Light Heavyweight bout at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. Silva discussed Belfort's possible replacement prior to the UFC official announcement that he will defend his Middleweight Belt against Demian Maia:

“I may fight at Light Heavyweight in Abu Dhabi, probably against Rashad Evans. Nothing is sure yet, and the boss will probably take some time to release that, so please don’t write anything about that.”

Rashad Evans was originally set to fight his foe Quinton Rampage Jackson at UFC 114, which probably made the UFC to consider him as a "plan B" replacement for Anderson Silva. Belfort's final replacement, Demian Maia, has a 12-1 record in Mixed Martial Arts and is a multi-time ADCC and BJJ Mundial Champion. In his last fight Maia defeated Dan Miller via Unanimous Decision at UFC 109: Relentless.

Quinton Jackson would be a more intriguing replacement...

Don't count Maia out yet it's still MMA even though i'm sure he will lose but sometimes you just never know. Never count anybody out when it comes to MMA.

Funny that he took so many hard shots to the chin before going down then, most fighters would have been knocked out in the first round after getting hit like that by Machida.

Did you see him get hit once by Silva and drop?

    Either way... Anderson would win

Silva vs Mousasi would be one of the best possible fights all categories. Mousasi does fight 185 btw.

I actually would have preferred Evans to Maia. For Maia to do his work, he is going to have to take down Silva, which i dont think is going to happen. It may do, but Silva aint going to want to stay there.

Evans on the other hand is a pretty good wrestler and i feel would get him down more often, AND silva would feel alot safer on the ground not fighting against a Blackbelt (Actually evans apparently is, but its more like a cereal box BlackBelt), so it may stay there longer.

The only way someone is going to be able to beat silva is by getting him to the ground, and being able to submit him. But you need the right combination of the wrestling to get him there, an then the BJJ to submit him.

OR, Plan B. We wait for Cote to come back, and stand there for 5 rounds getting the shit beat out of him. And then he throws one lucky punch in the last 10 seconds and gets the knockout.
