Rashad Evans jokes that he wants to fight Jones and Machida tournament style
Posted on October 17, 2011, 10:15 PM by Trent ReinsmithFor a brief moment it looked as if former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans was finally going to get his long awaited shot at Jon Jones. However, the hand Evans injured while facing Tito Ortiz at UFC 133 did not heal fast enough to allow Evans to participate in UFC 140, which is scheduled to take place on December 10th at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. Instead of facing Evans on that card, Jones will face another former Light Heavyweight Champion and the only man to defeat Evans, Lyoto Machida.
Karyn Bryant caught up with Evans and they discussed the specifics behind why Evans did not get the chance to fight Jones in December, bettering his boxing skills, and Machida’s chances in the bout with Jones. Evans then ends the conversation by joking that he would like to fight both Jones and Machida on the same night.

LOVE YOU RASHAD I LOVE HIMMM OMG
I see machida taking them both out
I agree.
@Ryan22
where did you get your crystal ball hmm?
your Retarded if you think Rashad and Rampage are the same fighters...
wHERES YOU LOGIC IN THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE TO MOVE UP....HAVE YOU SEEN THE MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION? ANDERSON SILVA'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE. JONES MIGHT GO UP EVERYNOW AND THEN AND FIGHT A HW OR TWO LIKE SILVA DID. I DO AGREE WITH THE CATCH WEIGHT AT 225 BEING A NEW CLASS. THERE IS A WAY TO BIG OF GAP BETWEEN LHW AND HW. BTW SORRY ABOUT ALL CAP NOTHING IMPLYIED.
they both fight close to same time and Rashad wins he will get the fight
you're a ****ing idiot! Rashad doesnt look like a real contender? He's only beaten everyone in the divison... youre ****ing stupid lmao
I don't argue about Rashad being a contender...he clearly is, however, to be accurate, he has not 'beaten everyone in the division'.
Lyoto Machida
Shogun
Dan Henderson
Phil Davis
you might even add:
Rich Frankilin
Alexander Gustafsson
Not Lyoto....he got KTFO lol funny how the MMA comunity forgets that but lyoto loses to RUA and everyone rides that $hit out and says he should leave the UFC he's only got one lose in my book even rampage said he lost to machida and didn't want to fight him again but would if absoultly nessasary.
Stick all 3 of them in the cage at the same time and Jones will kick both of their asses.
They can`t start creating loads of new weight classes, theres enough already. The 125 weight class i don`t agree with either.
Remember what happened with boxing. Too many fights, too many belts.
People could become disinterested.
Everything is fine like it is. Just leave it that way.
I disagree with everything you just wrote. It is ridiculous that there is a wt class (HW) where the guys in the middle are way too big to cut to the next division and have to face guys like Overeem, Lesner, Big Foot, etc who out weigh them by 30 plus pounds. Even when you beat a guy that is that much bigger than you it takes a lot out of your body. I have a lot of chronic problems just from sparing with guys that are substantially bigger on a regular basis. If it is someones choice to do so then that is fine but a lot of these guys have no choice other than a different career. The same goes for the smaller guys fighting at bantam.
It always struck me that the boundaries in weight classes in the UFC was pretty much 10 to 15 pounds, but with HW, it is 60 pounds. I think this has a lot to do with the depth of the HW class in the early days, and the need to widen the weight qualification in order to accomodate more fighters. I think another reason was to keep the number of weight classes down in order not to confuse fans.
But the reality is that most fighters who are comfortable weighing 205 - 230 are at a distinct disadvantage against the bigger heavyweights of the division. There are always great fighters who are exceptions to the rule, but all other things being equal in a fight--extra muscle and bone mass make a difference for most.
This whole issue is made more confusing when it is acknowledged that fighting weights are one to two levels above 'weigh-in' weight. Most LHW's don't walk around at or fight at 205--that's for sure.
Rashad is a hell of an athlete and is well rounded. So he def has a chance to beat both just going to have to wait and see.
Rashad cant stay healthy to make it to some of his fights, what is he thinking he is going to be able to make a tournament. These are top fighters he going to face. He barely beat Rampage, who by the way stuff most of his takedown attempts. Jones is far more quicker, athletic, and better take down defense. Rashad is going to try a cut the distance with Jones and in the process is going to eat a big knee or elbow. Rashad better get Vera share with him the damages that can happen with those vicious elbows Jones throws.
Rashad just talks enters the octagon challenges Jon and pulls out of the fight now he wants to fight both in one night come on dude you cant even make the one fight When Jon and you fight you will get finished and you know that
Rashard it is tuff for you to hit Lyoto and I do not carE how good you are getting YOUR CHIN IS VERY SUSPECT AND JONES WILL KNOCK YOU OUT ........
When Rashad fought Machida, Lyoto was still a mystery and I personally think he would beat Machida now. I think it was a smart decision to leave Jacksons and start training with them Barzilians
people saying the should be a catch weight division need a reality check a 225 division would be ridiculous how many heavywieght fighters do you think the would be over 225 that wouldnt be a very deep division it would only have like 10 fighters tops
