Rashad Evans: Phil Davis won't be taking anybody down at UFC on Fox 2

"I expect it to be a stand-up fight for the most part. I think it's going to be a war of attrition. The guy who comes in the best shape and the guy who has the edge in the stand-up department is probably going to take over the fight. I think that Phil (Davis) has a great pedigree in wrestling, but this is MMA, and MMA and wrestling are not the same. There are differences when it comes to going for a takedown and transitioning into punches and takedowns; There is a big difference there and if you don't transition well into that, it doesn't matter if you are a 3-time world champion, if you don't have all aspects of the game, you won't be taking anybody down." - For complete interview with Rashad Evans, visit FightHype.com

Contrary to his recent statements made to MMAInterviews.tv, top Light Heavyweight contender Phil Davis won't be taking anybody down at UFC on Fox 2.

At least, not according to his opponent, Rashad Evans, who acknowledges Davis' wrestling pedigree, but insists that, without "all aspects of the game," it won't help "Mr. Wonderful" much come January 28th. Instead, Evans, also an accomplished collegiate wrestler, says he expects much of the bout to be contested upright, where the man with the better stand-up will likely emerge victorious. So what's the word LowKick'ers? Should fans expect more sweet science or ground and pound in this one? And who has the edge where?

that was originally Evans tittle shot that Jon Jones got,so Evans feels like he got robbed of the opportunity to fight for the belt [and yes he prob would have beat Shogun and been the champ again] by his own team mate. Evans has been the number one contender for a very long time and promised that shot at the tittle many times but it keeps falling trough, plus there is the rivalry between him and Jones

What? Do you expect them to use the entire paragraph in the headline? I don't think they could have summarized it any more accurately.

Rashad said that Phil Davis is a great wrestler, BUT.... Then goes on to say that without a complete game you can't take anybody down.
