Rashad Evans: I'm motivated beyond belief to defeat Jon Jones

Next month, Jon Jones and Rashad Evans will finally meet inside the Octagon, headlining the stacked UFC 146 fight card in Atlanta, Georgia. Evans will be looking to back up his promise to expose Jon Jones, who he considers unworthy of having the UFC Light Heavyweight title around his waist.

In his recent hype-up video, Evans talks about his motivation to defeat Jon Jones, and the "payback" state of mind he will be looking to bring into the cage on April 21st. "Suga" currently trains at Imperial Athletics at Boca Raton, Florida, alongside Jorge Santiago, Anthony Johnson, and many others.

Quote via MMAMania.com:

"Jon Jones was a friend, like my little brother. We were never even supposed to entertain the idea of fighting each other. This is a lot deeper than any other fight that I had. It is definitely code broken. When I'm out there tired, I think about Jon thinking he's better than me, thinking that he's going to expose me. I'm motivated beyond belief. I'd give my life for it right now. I'm Rashad Evans fired up by something -- you better get out the way. It is about payback."

Certainly no one fighting Jones has ever been this motivated. Hopefully that and Evan's experience with Jones will make a difference. It's hard to imagine though.

I hope for Evans but have to pick Jones.

i was thinking the same thing - i know fedor is irrelevant now;but who knows, a somewhat invisible young champion might just be the challenge fedor is looking for that might actually make him jump to the UFC - granted dana would allow it.

not to bypass rashad (who looks amped-up on the video)

    contenders left would be:

    - Henderson

    - Machida 2

    - an improved Davis

    - a "healthy" shogun

    - A. Silva (?)

    Get fedor's c.o.c.k out you're mouth and breath !!!

What the f... are you talking about !?

Fedor is irrelevant for sure, might be the challenge fedor is looking for ? (below)

C'mon fedor didn't look for a challenge for a long time when he did he went 1 and 3, fedor is yesterday's news.

He was a great fighter that wasted his best years !

i agree for some reason im rooting for Evans to win.. although if i had to bet $ it would be on jones. but i think its going to be a tough fight for both guys, If anyone in the divison has the tools to win it is Rashad. He has argueabley the best wrestiling in the divison after man handling phil davis, trained with jones regularly, great speed and power, and he is motivated.

I honestly believe he is motivated more than anyone of Jones' previous opponents and as strong as motivation can make you, I don't know if it's enough to get Rashad the win.

    What a scawy face!

No female tennis player could withstand such a deadly look.

It's all about payback. Jones and Rashad drum up interest by promoting some ****amamie 'wrong' done in the past--and the fans pay them back millions.

I've always been a big Rashad fan, however I just know he won't be able to close the distance. Hopefully he'll be able to take a leaf out of Chael Sonnes book and keep the pressure up, however Jones has already stated thats what he expects. I'll be rooting for Rashad anyway.

I don't think the whole reach advantage thing will be giving Rashad a hard time. I mean boxers do fine with it. Rashad should be fine. I still think Jones is going to win because I'm pretty sure he is an alien from another planet.

I just wish they would get this fight over with. By the time the UFC promotes it for 6 months, I feel like it already happened.

This is Rashad trying to get in Jones's head. I wouldn't doubt if he's already in it though!

Rashad was pissed because Jones agreed never to fight him. He only tried to make that deal because he knew he could never beat him once he came into his own. Now he's overcompensating because he knows he can't win. Punchers chance yes........but it's not going to happen. Hate Jones all you want Rashad is gonna get worked.

Rashad should pull a Paul Harris and dive for a vicious leg lock right away - then he might have a chance, speaking of which Paul Harris looks like he could beef up and be a stumpy LHW , to be fair however Im not sure which part of his body is left to beef up, his hands maybe? lol

how nice it would be if Rashad knocked jones down from his pedestal..

jones doesnt have a mental advantage over Rashad and Rashad is not afraid to get in close and unleash his fury...

and Rashad met a lot of top notch competition and he only lost once...

    go Rashad!!!!

"We were never even supposed to entertain the idea of fighting each other." What kind of shit is that? They are both in the same Weightclass and Rashad says some shit like that? He's so ****ing delusional and definitely tries to damn hard to sound "honourable". I hope Jones puts this guy to rest, badly. Put him to sleep Jones and walk away from his out cold body.

Love the dark, disturbing "drama" that Evans is creating here, all serious like this is a life and death situation.

He's going to need more than motivation and a "dark" documentary to beat Jones.

Are you guys serious, do any of you know mma at all? Fedor? Fkn really? Rashad is trying to get into jones head, jones is young and doesnt know the physcological warfare going on here. If he just stays on his game plan Evans will be chum , if he lets him in his head and is too respectful then he will have problems. jones in middle of the third, tko

Fedor was a beast, and frankly still is. But he has NOTHING to do with Jon Jones... Rashad is destined to grip the belt, watch out for guys like gustafsson (wrong spelling im high as **** in class,) aswell as the obvious, shogun, machida, and them, lol

I would love to see Suga whoop that Bony a** Jones! Jon is no joke though. He's on a hell of a run since winning the belt in finishing three former champs in his first three defences. Finishing, not decisions.

I still route for Rashad even though the odds are against him. But he could take this.
