Yeah, that was seriously lame, for anyone with a decent attention span, Machida's style has to be one of the most interesting and aesthetically pleasing around. Once he added more aggression to his game (with the T Silva fight) he's been great to watch.
Definitely no plans for a take down or to win in "stand up". Couture plans to grind Machida up agains the cage and hold him there for 3 rounds dirty boxing his way to a decision.
I love them both but for reasons of the future I have to hope Machida is elusive enough to stay off of the fence and win by TKO.
Will Randy be clever enough to get in the clinch with Machida? Will Machida be too slick and elusive and pick apart Randy while Randy tries to close the distance? My heart wants Randy but my head says Machida. Either way the outcome falls, it will be an exciting match. Good luck to both fighters!
How come Randy keeps calling Machida's Karate background as Kyokushin when Lyoto studies Shotokan. I hope Randy hasnt been sparring with Kyokushin guys because although its similar it is also very different at the same time.
Anyway come on Lyoto make MMA realise that Karate was never gone. Put us back on the map.....
He's referred to Machida's style as shotokan in a few other interviews, but I think he called it Kyokushin in the countdown video as well. Not sure what that's about. As for sparring partners introducing Randy to the stance etc in shotokan, there's only so much they can do; the Machidas have adapted their karate quite a bit for MMA and so there's a limit to how closely you'll be able to get sparring partners to mimic that style.

Couture had a draw with Jacare in a grappling match...
his defensive grappling is phenomenal, and even big nog couldnt submit him either and nog had him in some tough submission holds in that fight
Stopped watching after Doctor Eggman called Machida's style "ugly".

Also, change the description.
"Couture was submitted for the last time more than six years ago, in a UFC 54 fight against Mike Van Arsdale."
Couture won that fight.
Couture will lose this fight in the stand up.
Tom Atencio = idiot
Also, yeah, he was last submitted by Valentijn Overeem a hundred years ago, he beat Van Arsdale handily.
I'm a statistics freak. Making stats-related mistakes is twice as painful for me :)
I assume he plans to take Machida down in which case he should be, guys like Machida can pull off subs outta nowhere
