Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans LIVE Play-by-Play Commentary
Posted on May 28, 2010, 04:34 AM by Anton Gurevich
Two former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions "Suga" Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will square off at the main event of UFC 114, for the shot at Mauricio Shogun Rua's newly-won title. The fight will also put an end (or not) to the deep hatred between the two knockout artists, started at the UFC 96 post-main event confrontation, which reached new levels of hatred at The Ultimate Fighter 10 show.
Quinton Jackson lost his UFC Light Heavyweight title two years ago at UFC 86, in a controversial decision to Forrest Griffin. Rampage went 2-0 since that defeat, knocking out the arch nemesis Wanderlei Silva and winning a decision against Rashad Evans' Tri-Star Gym partner Keith Jardine. As for Rashad Evans, "Suga" was unbeaten in his career before being brutally knocked out by Lyoto Machida at UFC 98. Evans bounced back with a victory over the top contender Thiago Silva, in what some fans considered as a lackluster performance.
Rampage and Evans will surely come to this fight with a carefully worked gameplan, but in light of the deep hatred between the two former Champions, technique could be easily thrown out of the window in the early minutes of the bout. Rampage Jackson is a slight favorite in this fight, according to the LowPick: MMA Prediction Game. The Memphis-native currently leads with 56% of the votes, while 95% of the fans predict a TKO victory and 68% say that it will happen in the Second Round.

Back when Rashad was undefeated and knocked out Forrest Griffin and became the champ, i remember my room mate and i just looked at eachother and went like "Rampage doesn't stand a chance against him... he's definitely way to slow"
Now things have changed, Rashad is the underdog just because he got knocked out against Lyoto, then Lyoto was considered unbeatable, then now look what happened, until someone knocks out Shogun etc ....
My opinion is that Rashad's gonna win this fight because he's more scrappy and faster. I love Rampage too though... but i'm going with Rashad.
HE HUMPED THIAGO AND NOW HES GONNA HUMP RAMPAGE.
I am such a big fan of Rampage, but i am affraid that rashad is to fast for him. Never was that nervous before a fight...
im thinking rashad decision, but i would like to see rampage vs shogun 2
this is gonna be a war, hoping for a 2nd round KO by Rampage
I can't wait to see how the loser of that fight is going to act...I'm more interested to see who's going to lose than the winner. There is a lot of trash talking between those two.
Rampage PLZ... KO Gayshad
lol, I like that. From now on I'm calling him Gayshad. I really don't like him.
Yeah same... he just seems to two-faced to me and he takes things too far
I will watch ufc celebrating my b-day with my friends =)
and this fight gonna be very close, like machida vs. shogun. I pick rashad, by tko in rd 2.
I like to see Rampage to win and rematch wih Shogun, but seem likely
Rashad win by decision
Rampage last real loss is to Shogun in 2005.Rampage in in good shape will kill Rashad
rashad is good but rampage is stronger so rashad is going to use his wrestling.
rampage just got handleld rashad was way to quick for him alot of haters are going to complain about rashad gameplan but it worked
it was a good gameplan, i was mad surprised rampage didnt do more GnP when he rocked rashad, guess he was tired, he never really went after him. Bet there will be a rematch once rashad loses to shogun, and rampage fights the winner of chuck/franklin.
i jst knew rashad was gunna wrestle thru out the match n not trade wit him wat was the point of rashad sayin he gunna knock him out shud have jst said am gunna wrestle u thru out the fight... well done to him tho i guess u got to do wateva to win... rashad gt lucky tho in round 3 wen he was down sum big punches jst missed him
That Sucks Ass !!!!! Still cant stand evans, have to give him props thou, he won..
What a BORING ass FIGHT! I was more entertained by the trash talking!!!!!!!!!!!
RUA WILL DESTROY RASHAD!
I didnt see this as a boring fight, at times ya the clinch got boring but other than that it was descent. Just wasnt the slugfest everyone was expecting.
