Rampage Jackson says Jon Jones is spying on him

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson believes he's being watched. Not by the thousands of MMA fans who pack arenas each time he steps into the cage though, but by the very men he considers his comrades.

After receiving word from a friend via Twitter that there may be a spy amongst his team courtesy of his scheduled opponent, Jon "Bones" Jones, Jackson decided to test the waters by fabricating a hand injury. According to "Rampage," it was just four hours later when his manager received a phone call from UFC match-maker Joe Silva, who admitted that he'd been informed of the "injury" by none other than Jones' manager, Malki Kawa.

“One of my friends was talking to Jon Jones’ manager recently, and Jon Jones’ manager was saying that he knows everything that is going on in our camp. He said he had spies in our camp and he knew everything that was going on. That got me thinking... How did he know about my hand injury that fast? It wasn’t on the Internet, and yet he knew about my hand injury right away. The UFC people were in Brazil, which is why it probably took them four hours to call me. That shows me two things: They have spies in my camp, one, and two, they’re dumb as hell, because they didn’t know how to use the information correctly and to wait. He called right away, running to Joe Silva. Joe Silva called my manager right away.

Of course, its not the first time that Jackson has been convinced that there was a traitor in his presence. Prior to his UFC 114 bout with Rashad Evans, the former champ suffered a knee injury, which appeared to be kept mum ahead of the match-up. However, once things got underway, Evans began striking the ailing joint repeatedly.

While both Evans and Kawa have since adamantly denied the claims, "Rampage" remains steadfast in his belief and says that he'll ultimately leave it up to the fans to weigh the facts and make their own judgement. So, what do you think LowKick'ers? Is it just a case of paranoia on behalf of Jackson or is Jonny "Bones" looking for a bit of insider info ahead of UFC 135?

It's probably Jones himself in disguise. He loves pretending to be someone he's not.

Have you not watched any videos with Rampage lately He's not training at the wolf lair in Liverpool England for this fight. Nice attempt to bash a UK camp though. I believe he's in Colorado, in fact he's actually living at the training centre he's currently at. Like I said check out some of Rampage's latest Vids.

Even though he's not training in England he is still training with the Wolf Lair crew. He brought them over with him. He made that very clear in the pre-fight presser.

    @mmauk

I have nothing against that camp or the UK but the fact is the Wolfs Lair hasn't produced one champion so far and I honestly think Rampage should move camps and maybe he will start fighting like the Rampage of old

The hand story is unsettling. If this is really going on Jackson should seriously change his camp.

Yeah, he needs to change camps anyway. He's been far too predictable in the recent years and has not really showed progress.

I agree completely that he should change for other reasons. I am just talking about trust here though. If you can't trust your team mates things are seriously wrong.

I hope rampage punches him so damn hard that both his eye-balls fly out into the crowd. One sticking to Dana's waxed bald head and one like a grape in Arianny's cleavage.

Jackson should go to Montreal and train with the Tri-Star fellas. GSP would teach him a thing or two in sparring.

If true then Jones's manager really is an idiot... that's the main questionable thing in all this. If you had a spy on the enemy team, why would you give yourself away like that? I'd like to see if anyone could find a twitter message about the hand injury because that will say if this is true or not.

But at the same time, in the full article on this on other sites, it's also mentioned that Rampage is bringing in some of Jones's ex training partners to camp. That makes this situation even more bizarre - as it shows Rampage really is worried about what Jones is doing, and also those training partners already know Jones so they would be able to give him information as well.

Though the Rashad/Rampage situation, that's more believable. Because Rashads camp stayed quiet about the injury and took advantage. If they had a spy in his camp this time, wouldnt they have used that to their advantage instead of making calls and giving themselves away?

They could have given away their hand on purpose in order to get in Jackson's head and make him too suspicious of everyone to train well.

Nah, Kawa just says that he's "heard" Jackson brought in a former training partner of Jones. He's clearly referring to the joke Evans made when he offered to train Rampage.

I think Rampage should train at Randy Couture's gym in Vegas. I think Randy would know everyone in his gym training fighters so the likelihood would be less for a spy from Greg Jackson's/Jones's group to be able to go unnoticed at camp Couture .I think Jones is an incredible fighter but he strikes me as someone who would spy and cheat to get an advantage over Rampage.

Yes, because the only reason the Silva would think Rampage had a hand injury was from a "spy".

I bet if any fighter has an injury a few weeks before a title shot, the UFC would know about it pretty fast.

This sounds a bit weird. Is Rampage covering up for a real injury? Starting to crack under pressure? Playing head games of his own? Making excuses already?

That's a good point that I disregarded... Maybe he does have a legitimate injury and is doing this to play mind games?

He said for his last fight he worked thru a hand injury as well, he could be doing that again and using this to his advantage. Mentally is the primary way that Jones has not been tested, and I'm sure Rampage noticed Rashad bringing on the mental warfare to Jones.

Who knows - think about it though, maybe it would get in to Jones's head if he comes out with the crowd boo'ing him for things that are not true. I know if I was not accustomed to that as a fighter it would probably increase the pressure. I've had people spread shit that wasnt true about me to family members and those family members believed it and started a fight with me - definitely a frustrating feeling.

I don't really buy into this story at all. Keep in mind Rampage ALSO said that he was paid to take a dive against Sakuraba, had a religious awakening before a fight and chose not to eat for an entire day, got high on energy drinks and went on a "Rampage", not to mention that training camps aren't particularly closed environments and leaks are always subject to happen not to mention that it's the twentieth freaking century and you can get information about anything anywhere from anyone. All it would take is a single indiscreet second on a chat site and the information will be plastered all over the web five minutes later. Personally I'm waiting until we get more concrete information.

He should take on Rashad's offer to train with him. It is a guarantee that there will be no Jones nuthugger welcome in his camp.

Well... does anyone here think that there is something that Rampage could bring to the table that comes unexpected? Why spy on someone that has been part of the game for so long that he has been figured out already?

Rampage will not win if the fight goes to a decision, he will not be able to submit or out-wrestle Jones, so what remains? Right, Rampage could win by (T)KO. He will try and strengthen his TDD, but it will still not be enough. He is a good striker but has a huge disadvantage when it comes to reach, plus he has to worry about takedowns and thus cannot let his hands go without worries.

Either Rampage wins by KO or he gets stopped/decisioned by Jones... TKO or submission voctory for Jones is the most likely outcome IMO.

I agree with Wolfi Rampage will need to TKO or KO Jones which means he has a punchers chance which is always dangerous. I think Jones has great wrestling and he (Jones) has showed that he can submit fighters.

I wonder what people will say about training with the wolves lair team if Rampage does pull it off?

Rampage set them up. He set the trap and they fell into it. That much we know. What he needs to do is find out who is talking, beat his a*s and get him to give up who he is talking to. Since Jones is denying it, I'd like to know if indeed it is Jones or Mawa. We already know Mawa has been lying about it, because he is getting the info. What I want to know is if the spy is getting paid. He needs his a*s kicked in the cage, then needs to be squeezed into giving up who his master is. Jones better not be the one.

As for him saying to Rampage it's his way of life. The kid just started fighting. If it's a way of life for any of the two, it would be Rampage, who has +/- 10 years in the field. Jones is saying all the wrong things. I don't trust that.
