Rampage Jackson explains missed weight, hits back at Rich Franklin's comments on Fuel TV
Posted on February 25, 2012, 05:16 AM by Anton GurevichFormer UFC Light Heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson came overweight at the official UFC 144 weigh-in, hitting the scale 211lbs (5lbs over). Rampage will have to forfeit 20% of his fighting purse to Ryan Bader, who will look to add insult to injury by defeating Jackson in tonight's co-main event.
Jackson, 32-9 in pro MMA competition, will face Ryan Bader in the co-main event of tomorrow's UFC 144 event in Saitama, Japan.
Jackson revealed he had a number of injuries during his training camp for UFC 144, and was unable to cut the required amount of weight. Rampage refused to reveal his "walk around" weight, but still declared that it's the biggest amount of weight he had to cut in his MMA career.
Former UFC Middleweight champion Rich "Ace" Franklin questioned Jackson's motivation, and his ability to rise up to the occasion against Ryan Bader. Jackson said Franklin better stop running his mouth, or he would get "smacked" next time he sees him.

Has Franklin missed weight? Cmon Quinton, you sound like a child
In jackson's defence, this is probably the first time he has missed weight in his career.
This wont be good for Rampage. I mean if he wins then I don't believe that he should move up in the line for a title shot. If he lose then he will slip further down the line for a title shot.
Believe me, Rampage doesnt want another title shot vs Jones. His old ass is out for money now.
And I dont blame him...
Haha... Rampage cracks me up. Too many fine asian hos for him to pass up this week. Atleast he has his priorities straight.
Too bad Baders gonna work off those 6 lbs pressing his fatass up against the cage for 3 rounds...
Anytime a fighter misses weight I lose a little respect for them. I realize that this is the first time that Rampage has missed weight in as long as i can recall, but making weight should always happen. Just my opinion but a fighter should start an eight week camp no more than 20 pounds off weight. The final cut (water) should only be a few pounds. The reason they have weight classes is so two equal sized fighters can test skills against each other, not to see who can be the biggest on the day of the fight. I know 99% of the fighters do it but to me its trying to use a loophole to get an advantage (aka cheating). Every time this happens it makes me more a fan of the few that fight at natural weight like Edgar, Henderson, Fedor, Moussasi, etc.
They should have the weigh ins 2 hours before the fight. Problem solved. Money always overrules sense though.
This is why I am not a fan of Rampage. Excuses before the fight even starts, can't even come close to making weight, can't handle constructive criticism. He is a child in a man's body, just like I said before. If you are "inured" Rampage either don't fight, or suck it up and keep your mouth shut, like real professional fighters do. All he does is whine, whine, whine, and then "threaten" others when they make legitimate comments. Grow up dude.
He ate some snacks on the plane.A happy meal i think.Lol
Nah ,i think he did his best to make weight, and he didn;t.But i am still looking forward to seeing him bodyslam Bader the F%$# out.
Ramapge is not done yet .Mark or (weak) my words.I don;t give a sh#@
For a guy that seems to only be here for the money, and walks away to make a movie because of more money its logical for other fighters to question his motivation. Dont get all tough on Ace and worry about the guy in front of you instead.
Having said that, I hope bader doesnt hold you on the ground for 3 rounds so you can land a nasty KO for Japan!
Rampage always makes weight, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt here. If he does win this fight I don't think he should be penalized anymore than the 20% of his purse (i.e. he should move up the ladder).
All that being said Rampage IMO has cardio issues at the best of times when pushed, I think Bader is going to take this fight.
He's kind of whiny today tho.
Hes probably starving and REALLY irritable...
I hope not... I hate seeing "Great Fighters" career's coming to an end. Its inevitalbe at his age in the game.
well, if anything , this could show us if Bader is the real deal, or more hype...against tougher competition. he seems to be a beast and i think the loss to tito was the punchers chance on ortiz's behalf with a lil luck.
I think Rampage will actually look really good. May get put on his back in the first round, but I think he'll actually put Bader on his back, as well as put him against the cage, break off and unleash hooks. Rampage by 3rd rd tko or decision.
lookin forward to seein Rampage fight, he has't knock out anybody recently to afraid to stand with him, hopefully that changes tonight
Dont smack Rich unless you want to get your ass kicked AGAIN!
"you know what im saying"
