"The middleweight division is for the fighters who are there, and have been fighting there, so I don’t think there’s much point in (the GSP vs. Silva) fight. Basically, I haven’t really thought about it because Anderson and I are top of the middleweight division, so it should be left to us."

"I want to fight Anderson, beat him, and I believe I’ll become a new star in the UFC. I’m concentrating and training for that fight now. Anderson is the top of the middleweight division and I am coming for the belt. I promise you’ll see him fall and I’ll be the new champion.

It appears that Yushin Okami is not among those who approve of a potential superfight between Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre and Middleweight Champ Anderson Silva.  Okami was expected to get his long awaited title shot after defeating Nate Marquardt in November, but learned shorty after that he will instead have to await the outcome of St. Pierre's UFC 129 bout with Jake Shields.  If victorious, UFC President Dana White has stated that GSP, not Okami, will likely be next in line to face Silva.

Okami is the last fighter to claim a victory over "The Spider," who was disqualified due to illegal strikes during their 2006 match-up at Rumble on the Rock 8. In addition to his recent victory over Marquardt, "Thunder" has amassed a record of 10-2 with the promotion (26-5 overall), with victories over Alan Belcher, Evan Tanner, Mark Munoz, and others.  So what do you think LowKick'ers?  Should Okami get the next crack at Silva?  Can he make good on his vow to dethrone the pound for pound king?

Yeah, I don't see Silva getting himself DQ'd this time.

And that was a sick KO last time they fought even if it did get him DQ'd

Okami is delusional , he dosent have the skills to even impose a threat to Anderson Silva.

hes good overall but hes not great at anything.

    Silva will eat him alive.

I think it would be one sided but I wouldn't rule him out of a win. Silva isn't at his best when his pressured, but at the same time his quick to lock in a submission. IF.... (and thats a big if) he can pressure Silva without losing his head and giving away possible submissions, he could do it.

I don't think he will but good luck Okami

He hasn't got the skill set to pose a threat to Silva. His take-downs aren't that good to put Silva on his back and if you cant put Silva on his back you will get KTFO!

That's a pretty big promise to keep, Okami. Good luck with that.

The only person that can beat the Shit out of Silva is Jon Jones. Not thus guy, not GSP. Jon Jones is the guy. Silva should jus leave this class and fight the remainder of his career as a lightheavy weight. He would have so many great match UPS there. But I still think Bones is the only one who could really destroy him. Silva vs. Machida. Silva vs. Rampage. Silva vs. Evans. Those all fights should be something we could all see. I'm tired of seeing him destroy these middleweights.

wow, I totally agree with you! How people weak'd you I have no idea. Silva is just coasting on lame MW fights and they have to keep feeding him LHW that don't have anything to lose or guys who have more juice in them than a bag of oranges. Why doesn't he STEP UP and change weight classes? Damn!

GSP vs Shields is a month away plus they will need to recover afterward and begin a new camp, etc. - meanwhile Silva and Okami are healthy and doing nothing... set up the fight for this summer, GSP still would need time to bulk up, and by then Silva will be ready even if he fights Okami in the fall... GSP will take his time to add muscle correctly, which is not a slow process anyway.

I had a dream that a chopstick fell off a table and speared a spider and killed it..... so I am interpretting this dream as Okami taking silva down and KOing him with a looping right from the guard!!!!

Also, my other dream was of a bald eagle crapping on a maple leaf.... this led me to believe that jake shields will dry hump the shiz out of gsp!!!!

I'd rather see that fight, then GSP v. Silva.

At least this fight could happen, now. Wait on the other fight, be a ####ing year (at least) before GSP could get in there, with Silva. The GSP Silva fight is a joke (right now) and should be put to bed; give him Okami - now.

The only guy in this division that still poses a threat is Chael. I'm not a huge Silva fan but this guy has proved the world that he is the #1 P4P.

Okami should quit reading inspirational posters and come back to reality for a minute.

When Chael Sonnen pounded on Anderson Silva for 4-3/4 rounds, I was shocked.

So I don't rule Okami completely out of the equation--since he is a good wrestler and he is tough. If anyone showed the gaping hole in Anderson Silva's game it was Sonnen.

If Okami learns from that lesson, then you never know.

I certainly wan't to see that fight now--since waiting for a superfight is tedious, and may never happen. Let Okami have his shot now--let the superfight wait--if it ever will happen at all.

Okami will win, same way Chael was going to if he wasn't stupid Chael.
